For those of you not familiar with Wings, it follows Joe and Brian Hackett. They both own Sandpiper Air. Join them, their friends and coworkers as they try and run an airport along with their lives in general. While you would think things would be normal at an airport they are far from. Joined by Helen (Joe’s recent bride), Casey, Roy, and Antonio life is never normal at this airport.
Before receiving this DVD set in the mail I had actually never watched Wings. I had obviously heard of the show but I never really knew anything else about the show. Since I have never seen the show before you need to take this into consideration while you read the rest of this review. Overall I thought Wings was an average to a little above average comedy.
Most of you should probably already know that Wings is a comedy. It is kind of hard to classify Wings as a certain kind of comedy. If I had to compare it to another show that I have seen I would have to compare it to Cheers. If you take a closer look you can see a lot of similarities between the two shows. While set in different locations (bar vs. airport) both comedies are set around some carefree and easy going characters. If you enjoyed Cheers and you have never seen Wings I would recommend that you check it out.
If you have read any of my other comedy reviews you should already know that I base reviews of comedies on two factors. First I look at the consistency of the humor. Second I look at laugh out loud moments. Based on my rating system Wings does pretty good on the first factor but really suffers in the second factor. In my opinion a comedy can’t be great unless it has at least some laugh out loud moments. Since Wings didn’t really have any laugh out loud moments this hurts the show in my opinion.
The acting in Wings is pretty good overall. If you just look at the cast you will probably recognize several members. With names like Tim Daly, and Steven Webber you shouldn’t be that surprised. One thing I do have to bring up is about Tony Shalhoub. I don’t know if it is just me but it is weird seeing Tony Shalhoub with an Italian accent after watching him as Adrian Monk for so many seasons.
Finally those of you who are looking for special features will be disappointed since this DVD set has no special features at all. It’s not that surprising since most of these older shows never have special features. I guess fans of the show should just be happy that the show got a DVD set in the first place.
Overall I thought Wings was an average to above average comedy. If you like carefree comedies like Cheers you should like Wings. If you liked Wings I say you should pick up the seventh season as long as the fact that there are no special features doesn’t turn you off.

Thanks for your publication. I also feel that laptop computers are getting to be more and more popular nowadays, and now will often be the only form of computer utilized in a household. The reason being at the same time that they’re becoming more and more affordable, their processing power is growing to the point where they are as potent as pc’s out of just a few years back.
