Obviously the biggest news regarding Ugly Betty is the news that Lindsay Lohan’s stint on the show has been cut short. To tell you the truth this really didn’t come as much of a surprise to me. I personally don’t even know why the show decided to add her in the first place. I have never been a fan of these spoiled paparazzi magnet celebrities. I honestly don’t know why people are so interested in celebrities destroying their own lives.
With that said I honestly couldn’t care less that Lohan’s stunt will be cut short. Ugly Betty fans will have to deal with her for the next three episodes and at that point this storyline will probably already be tiring. While the idea of their high school rivalry might be interesting for another episode, I don’t really seeing the storyline going anywhere. Maybe if Ugly Betty cast a different actor in the role it might have been more interesting but I have never and will never be a fan of Lindsay Lohan. The whole thing just has the stench of stunt casting in order to give Ugly Betty a boost in the ratings.
So for those of you who didn’t see the episode, Kimmie (Lohan’s character) gets involved in Betty’s life again when her life is going down the drain. Betty ends up getting her a job at Mode. Kimmie is almost fired until Betty whips her into shape. They actually become friends (too a degree) and they actually go out clubbing. Kimmie ends up ditching Betty for Amanda and Marc. Kimmie ends up getting in the tabloids which gives Mode a bunch of good press. Daniel ends up promoting Kimmie to a more lucrative position in order to reap the benefits of her fame. Betty thinks that Kimmie might have changed until she reverts back to her bully ways with her new power.
While I didn’t really like the Kimmie storyline, I was actually surprised by the Daniel-Wilhelmina storyline. They are both fighting at work. Then Daniel comes up with the idea of joining a dating service in order to find a woman to begin a family with (it’s about time they are finally letting him grow up). As a surprise to almost no one, Daniel is set up with Wilhelmina. They are forced unto a love cruise until they work together to set off the fire alarm. Wilhelmina and Daniel get to spend some quality time together and realize that they aren’t as different as they thought. They decide to actually work together instead of constantly fighting with one another.
Finally Justin gets a tryout for a Broadway musical. At the tryout he meets a kid from school who actually teases him. Through the tryouts they actually become friends even though neither get the part. While it was a pretty simple story I have to admit that I am glad that the Suarez’s are finally getting a storyline that doesn’t rely on Coach Diaz.
