Ugly Betty S3.E23 Curveball and S3.E24 The Fall Issue
Last night the last two episodes of Ugly Betty’s third season aired. I thought both episodes were good and I thought they made for a good season finale. Next year Ugly Betty moves to Fridays and we all know that is the time slot of death so I am assuming that next season will be the final season of Ugly Betty. So with that in mind, after the jump I am going to look at what happened in last night’s episode and how it could play into what will happen in Ugly Betty’s likely final season.
Betty and Matt: It seems like Matt and Betty’s days are over. It’s too bad since I liked them as a couple. Maybe things might spark up again since Matt should be around Betty a lot (as her new boss), but I think the relationship is over for good. Maybe I am reading into things too much but I have a feeling that Betty and Daniel might hook up next season. I have a feeling that the show has always wanted to get Betty and Daniel together but wanted to wait. Since next season is most likely the last, I can see it happening next season. I personally don’t want to see it happen (I prefer them just as friends) but I think it will happen.
Betty’s New Job: It’s about time Betty is no longer a glorified assistant. While I found it a little too convenient how she was able to get an editor job at Mode, I like the development. They couldn’t keep Betty an assistant forever. Betty now can also get some new storylines that don’t always surround trying to fix Daniel’s mistakes (even though I bet there will still be plenty of these storylines next season). As far as Marc I have a feeling that another job will miraculously open up so he is able to get an editor job as well at Mode.
Molly’s Death: Well we all knew this was going to have to happen eventually. I think the show didn’t have long term plans for Molly but they used her in order to help get Daniel’s life together and help him grow as a character. I bet a couple episodes next season will deal with Daniel trying to get past Molly’s death and I think he will then move on. I am guessing he will end up hooking up with Betty (even though I hope that never happens). All I can say is that Daniel has truly changed a lot since the first season.
Daniel’s Half-Brother: While it appears that Claire has no interest in the son she gave up (or I believe the adoption letter she burned said the child was a boy), you know that he will end up at Mode sometime next season. This is the land of television after all. Something like that is not brought up and just forgot about. I have a feeling the half brother will come to town and trouble will follow him.
Wilhelmina’s Quest for Connor: Overall this storyline might or might not be interesting next season. I honestly don’t know how Wilhelmina will be able to find Connor if the federal government hasn’t been able to. I am assuming that she will eventually catch him which will make her have to deal with her feelings for him.
Justin, Hilda, and Ignacio: I have a feeling we will get more of the same with Betty’s family next season. Justin will have to adjust to public high school. Hilda will probably continue her current relationship or develop a new relationship next season. Ignacio will probably continue to just be the father figure on the show.
