After six seasons Two and a Half Men is still the number one comedy on television. While I don’t know how much longer that title is going to last (watch out for Big Bang Theory this season), you can’t deny that Two and a Half Men is a very popular comedy. Going strong after six seasons is quite an accomplishment. I personally am not a huge fan of Two and a Half Men but I even say that season six was a very solid season of Two and a Half Men.

Charlie, Alan and Jake are back for another season. Is season six the year that Charlie finally begins to grow up? Because of a potential serious relationship with a woman named Chelsea, Charlie finally might start acting his age. Alan continues to date but not so successfully especially with a past flame entering the picture. Jake continues to deal with teenage issues. Even Judith prepares to have another child. This is just the beginning of what you can expect in season six.

As I already mentioned, I am not a huge fan of Two and a Half Men. I personally think it is kind of overrated and isn’t worthy of being the number one comedy on television. That is another story though. Even though I think the show is overrated, the show is not bad. It is slightly above average in my opinion. While it isn’t that original and doesn’t have the laugh out loud moments like The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, it still provides quite a few laughs for a half hour period.

The six season is mostly on par with the other seasons. Some people are probably starting to get a little sick of the show since a show can only stay fresh for so long. While others are probably not bothered at all that the show is starting to lose some of its freshness. As far as those of you who have never seen the show you probably don’t need to see the other seasons to enjoy season six since like most comedies there isn’t a whole lot of backstory that you need to be aware of. If you don’t mind the fact that the show isn’t highly original you should really enjoy it.

The sixth season of Two and a Half Men fails to have that strong of special features. You only get three special features which add up to just short of 40 minutes long. That is not terrible but many DVD sets provide quite a few more special features and longer length. Growing Up Harper is a pretty good special feature but the other two are average. Here is exactly what you will get in the sixth season DVD set:

  • Growing Up Harper-A thirteen minute look at Angus T. Jone (Jake) growing up on the show. It looks at how he and his character has changed through six seasons of the show and what it is like being a child actor on a show. Overall this is the best special feature and is actually pretty entertaining.
  • The Women of Two and a Half Men-A 16 minute look at as the title suggests, the women of Two and a Half Men. Overall a pretty average feature which at times is kind of boring.
  • Gag Reel-A very typical seven minute gag/blooper reel. Better than most drama gag reels but just on par with other comedy gag reels.

While I think Two and a Half Men is an overrated series, I still think it is an above average comedy. Season six in general is on par with the other seasons so fans should enjoy the sixth season. The special features are a little slim so that might disappoint some. Simply put the special features are not even close to being worth a purchase on their own. Fans of the series should look into purchasing the set though if they want to either watch the episodes for the first time or even to rewatch the episodes.
