Ten years after the epic Unicron battle there is finally peace between the autobots and decepticons. They combine their efforts along with humankind in order to search for the rare and precious substance, Energon. Energon is found on Earth but the discovery brings evil forces to Earth in order to acquire the Energon for themselves. In order to stop this evil force the autobots need to work together in order to stop the world from being destroyed.
As I have mentioned in both my Transformers Animated Season One Review and Transformers Animated Season Two Review, I am not a huge fan of Transformers. I don’t mind the franchise but I really don’t enjoy it as much as a lot of other people. So while reading the rest of this review, take that into consideration.
I thought Transformers Energon The Ultimate Collection was pretty average overall. I think it was better than the new Transformers Animated but I really didn’t think it was really any better than most other cartoons. Not being a big fan of the series I was left thinking that I was missing something especially since I didn’t always know what was going on. Maybe with more familiarity with the series and the story wouldn’t be so confusing.
One thing that should disappoint some fans is that the dvd set for some reason has no special features. It is the Ultimate Collection after all and yet they couldn’t even scrap up some special features to go along with the episodes. While I am personally not a huge fan of special features, I am disappointed when dvd sets don’t add any especially since fans would like to have at least a couple.
The easiest way to give out recommendations for Transformers Energon The Ultimate Collection is to look at if you are a fan of the Transformers or not. If you have never seen the Transformers or don’t particularly care for them I would recommend that you pass since you probably won’t enjoy this collection and you might not even totally understand what is going on. If you are a fan of the Transformers though I have no trouble whatsoever recommending that you pick up Transformers Energon The Ultimate Collection.
