The Transformers are back. The complete second season of the new Transformers animated is coming out very soon. I reviewed the first season when it came out earlier this year and I honestly thought the show was a pretty average cartoon. It’s a season later and I really don’t think things have changed much since I still think Transformers Animated is a very average cartoon.
After the rise of Megatron and losing the key at the end of season one, the team has their work cut out for them in season two. They have to clean up Detroit, restore their image with the civilians, and recover the pieces of the Allspark which was blown to pieces. The Transformers need help but is Sari and some unexpected help enough to help the Transformers prevail?
Overall I found the second season of Transformers Animated to be the same as the first season, a pretty average cartoon. I have never been a big Transformers fan. It’s not that I hate the Transformers but I have never really gotten into them. So that fact probably influenced my thoughts on this DVD set at least a little.
Just so you know this isn’t the original Transformers animated series. This is actually a remake. I have never seen the original series so I can’t give a comparison between the two versions but I am guessing the original version was better.
Plot wise Transformers Animated is a lot like your normal Saturday morning cartoon. The stories aren’t very complex since you can tell the show was created for children. The show is pretty childish but most cartoons are so it isn’t that big of surprise. If you like cartoons that are meant for children you should enjoy Transformers Animated quite a bit. Be sure to watch the first season before the second season. While it probably isn’t necessary, I would recommend it since you would have a better idea of what was going on in the story.
Just like the first season, the special features aren’t much. You get two commentaries, two animated shorts, and a photo gallery. None of them are much so unless you are a big fan of the show I would recommend skipping them.
So Transformers Animated is a very average cartoon. It isn’t great but it isn’t terrible either. The question you got to ask yourself is whether you liked the first season (it is recommended that you see the first season first), and the Transformers and cartoons in general. The second season is similar to the first season, so if you enjoyed the first season I recommend that you pick up the second season as well.
