The Transformers return to TV and this time as an animated series. In season one the autobots arrive on Earth and are greeted as superheroes. They have their work cut out for them though since they need to keep the allspark safe from the decepticons that are scheming to take over Earth. To help them in their journey the transformers get help from a 9 year old girl named Sari. Will the Transformers with Sari’s help be able to safe the Earth from the decepticons or will the world parish into darkness?

Overall I found the first season of Transformers Animated to be a pretty average cartoon. I have never been a big Transformers fan. It’s not that I hate the Transformers but I have never really gotten into them. So that fact probably influenced my thoughts on this DVD set at least a little.

Just so you know this isn’t the original Transformers animated series. This is actually a remake. I have never seen the original series so I can’t give a comparison between the two versions but I am guessing the original version was better.

Plot wise Transformers Animated is a lot like your normal Saturday morning cartoon. The stories aren’t very complex since you can tell the show was created for children. The show is pretty childish but most cartoons are so it isn’t that big of surprise. If you like cartoons that are meant for children you should enjoy Transformers Animated quite a bit. One thing I do have to bring up about the plot though is that the first episode isn’t actually in this DVD set. The pilot for the series is actually on the DVD “Transformers Animated: Transform and Roll Out.” While it probably isn’t necessary to watch the first episode it is probably a good idea since it will be much harder to know what is going on in the first season if you miss all the events that set up the series.

The special features in this DVD set are next to nothing. You only get a preview of the second season. The preview isn’t much either and the only way I would bother with it is if you for some reason just can’t wait for the second season to begin.

So Transformers Animated is a very average cartoon. It isn’t great but it isn’t terrible either. Your enjoyment of the DVD set will mostly depend on whether you like cartoons and whether you like Transformers. If you can answer yes to one of them you will probably like the show and if you can answer yes to both of them I can’t imagine you not liking Transformers Animated at least a little.
