When I was a kid I remember watching The Tiny Toon Adventures. I think I really liked the show when I was a kid (it has been quite a few years so I am not positive) since I vaguely remember the show. That might be because of the catchy and very irritating theme song but it doesn’t really matter. After so many years I was able to relive the show when I received the first volume of the first season in the mail. While it is not as good as I remember I still think it is a solid show and stands up much better than many other cartoons.

Plot

For those of you who don’t know about the show it is essentially a spin off of the Looney Tunes. I this version there are kid versions of all the characters from the Looney Tunes universe. The show follows characters such as Buster Bunny, Babs Bunny, Plucky Duck, Hamilton Pig, Elmyra Duff, Dizzy Devil, and many others in their adventures in Acme Acres and Acme Looniversity. Featuring the first 35 episodes of the show you have plenty of Tiny Toon adventures awaiting you in this DVD set.

Overall I thought the plot was pretty average. The show obviously gauges towards children so that is obviously working against the DVD in this review. It also explains why I liked the show more when I was a child. This fact doesn’t make the plot bad it just keeps it from being good. The plot also doesn’t vary much from many other cartoons. These are thankfully redeemed by the fact that the show is pretty funny at some points.

As far as the episodes to you can’t really complain. You get 35 episodes in this DVD set. That is almost unheard of in DVD sets. You definitely can’t complain about how many episodes that you get in this DVD set. Obviously all these episodes aren’t of the same quality. Some are better than others. With so many episodes you should find enough that you enjoy though.

Acting (Voice Acting)

Overall the voice acting is pretty good. The voices are believable even though some of them get irritating at times. I have heard better voice acting but I have also heard MUCH MUCH worse as well. The voice acting doesn’t really stand out. It doesn’t need to though. As long as it doesn’t disrupt you from watching the show it is doing it’s job. Tiny Toon Adventures does just that.

Visuals

Since this is an animated cartoon series you obviously can’t ask for a whole lot as far as the visuals are concerned. Since it was a show there obviously wasn’t as much time to put into the animation so you will see better animation in movies. You will also see better animation today since the show is around 18 years old so obviously with better technology comes better animation. The animation does hold up pretty well though and it doesn’t detract from the show so that is good.

Special Features

As far as special features go you only get one in this DVD set. It is essentially a feature on how Tiny Toons was developed off the Looney Tunes character. It is not a bad featurette especially if you are a fan of the Looney Tunes and Tiny Toons.

Final Verdict

Tiny Toon Adventures Season One Volume One is a nice DVD set if you were a fan of the show or you are looking for a pretty good cartoon to pass the time. It is not spectacular but cartoon fans should enjoy it. As far as what I thought about the show; I thought it was a little above cartoon and was worth watching.
