The Secret Life of the American Teenager S2.E4 That’s Enough of That 
Just to get it out of the way, I have never liked Ricky. So you would probably think that I would hate an episode that was almost entirely devoted to Ricky. Well I probably didn’t like the episode nearly as much as most fans of the show, I do give the show credit for a pretty solid episode all around. It did a pretty good job helping me change my opinion of Ricky. While I still don’t like the character (as a matter of fact I only like Amy and Ben’s families), this week’s episode made it easier to understand why Ricky does the things he does and makes him a little more like able.
So as I have already mentioned, the main storyline this week deals with Ricky trying to deal with the issues of his father sexually abusing him as a child. With Bob (his father) continuing to harass him, it brings up painful memories from his past. He decides to break things off with Grace in order to protect her but Marshall tells him he shouldn’t be ashamed of being abused since it wasn’t his fault. We also find out that Marshall’s brother was sexually abused by a neighbor and he ended up killing himself since he felt ashamed of what happened. Everyone tries to support Ricky while they try to find a way to put Bob behind bars again. Bob eventually slips up when Jack (while with the kid he is mentoring) catches Bob buying some drugs and that is enough to put him back behind bars.
The other main storyline this week involved Amy finding out the sex of her baby. While Ben wants to be there for her, Amy decides that she wants to go to the doctor alone. Ben obviously needs to realize when privacy is bring breached. He obviously loves Amy but he needs to tone it down. His obsession with the baby is just unnatural in my opinion. Amy at first doesn’t want to find out about the sex of the baby but she eventually finds out that she is having a boy. She decides to make a video for the baby in case she gives it up for adoption so the boy will know his mother.
Well it appears that the show is heading towards Amy giving up the baby for adoption. In my opinion that is the smart decision. For the show though it might be a mistake. I think the show could do more storywise if Amy kept the baby rather than giving it up. I am guessing that this won’t be the last we hear of this storyline though.
