In the first ever Big Bang Theory Christmas episode we actually learn that Sheldon actually has a heart (I was wondering for a while there if he did). While I thought the main story was a little dull, I thought Sheldon’s quest to find Penny a gift was hilarious. More on that and the rest of the episode after the break.
The main storyline of the episode was Penny meeting one of Leonard’s “collegues” who unlike most geeks, Penny finds attractive. Penny ends up spending all her time with him while pretending to love science (which she obviously doesn’t). The story wasn’t particularly funny (except when Leonard fell off the motorcycle while it was standing still). The story did show that before the show ends, they really need to put Leonard and Penny together for good. I think they are a good couple even though they are quite different. The bad thing is though that it probably has to wait till the last season of the show or it really wouldn’t work.
Back to Sheldon’s storyline or the funniest part of the episode. While Wii bowling with the rest of the gang, Penny comes over with a gift for Leonard and Sheldon. Sheldon doesn’t want the gift but since Penny got him a gift he has to find an equal gift in value and significance to Penny’s. He ends up hauling the gang to a bed and bath store and proceeds to creep out the clerks and shows why no one should be friends with him when he makes Howard and Koothrapali carry in all the baskets he bought for Penny. To top it off though was Sheldon’s reaction to getting an autographed napkin from Leonard Nimoy. What was best about the reaction was that Sheldon was more excited about Leonard Nimoy’s DNA on the napkin (which he wants to use to clone him) instead of the autograph.
So what were your thoughts on the last episode of The Big Bang Theory for 2008? Did it exceed your expectations or did it let you down?
Qutoes:
Leonard: “I have two words for you. Big and whoop.”
Leonard: “What! You’ve never seen a hypocrite before?”
Howard: “There’s always a redo when my people play sports.”
Howard: “Look who has a new BFF.”
Howard: “It’s funny when it’s not happening to us.”
Sheldon: “I told you before, bears are terrorfying.”
Howard: “It sounds just like you and Penny. We’ll take it.”
