The Big Bang Theory S2.E15 The Maternal Capacitance
After being pushed back an hour and a half due to President’s Obama’s speech, all I can say is that I am glad that the episode didn’t get pushed back an entire week. With Leonard’s mom coming to town, The Big Bang Theory treated us to possibly the best episode of the season and one of the best of the series.
The first thing everyone must have noticed was how similar Leonard’s mother was to Sheldon. As a matter of fact I would consider her an older, female version of Sheldon. They are just so similar and it was hilarious how Sheldon got along so well with her when she rubbed everyone else (including Leonard) the wrong way. The show even played off this and made it seem like something might happen between Sheldon and Leonard’s mom. Since it is Sheldon afterall, it turns out that they only ended up playing Rock Band together.
Maybe we now know how Leonard can stand Sheldon enough to be his roommate since his mother was pretty much just as annoying. While I doubt we will see Leonard’s mother again (at least for a while), I would love it if the show brought her back and I wouldn’t mind meeting Leonard’s siblings as well.
The other big development of the episode was that Leonard’s and Penny’s relationship almost took the next step until Leonard blew it. Did you really expect him not to blow it? While I want the show to eventually get the two characters together at the end of the series, I think the show might be moving a little too fast with the relationship. It is only the second season afterall. Hopefully the show decides to slow things down a little since if they continue on their pace I don’t know what the show would plan on doing next regarding the relationship.
Finally while Big Bang Theory fans might be upset that the show switched times this week due to the speech, it might have turned into a blessing after all. The Big Bang Theory might just be getting a new time slot which will bring it more viewers. If last night’s numbers are an indicator, Big Bang Theory might be retaining the 9:30/8:30C timeslot. The Big Bang Theory did an amazing job retaining Two and a Half Men’s audience which has always been a problem for the network. While I don’t mind the possible time shift, hopefully it won’t adversely affect How I Met Your Mother.
