Sunday Finale Roundup: The Good and the Bad

Yesterday television fans were treated to four season finales. Some were good while others were disappointing. So without further ado lets discuss last night’s season finales and what I would like to see out of each show next season. (Since the finales of Survivor, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy, and The Simpsons will be discussed refrain from continuing if you want to avoid spoilers.)

Desperate Housewives (Everybody Says Don’t and It’s Only In Your Head): While last night’s Desperate Housewives could have been better, I really can’t complain too much. The episode did bring some interesting storylines for next season and we did get some conclusion to the Dave storyline.

It’s too bad that Dave’s storyline was so predictable though. I knew he was going to chicken out at the end and not go through with his plan. I can see why Desperate Housewives went this way with the storyline (since what network would allow a young child to be killed) but they could have made it a little more unpredictable. They could have had Dave not chicken out. He could have actually tried to kill MJ but fail. For example MJ could have been in the car during the crash but survived the crash.

Next Season: Overall next season looks interesting. While at this point we can’t know for sure where the storylines are headed, I have to say that most of the storylines look promising.

Lynette and Tom having twins could definently be an interesting storyline. Hopefully some originality is brought into the storyline or it could become repetative quite quickly. I think Tom going back to school could also bring some unique story ideas to the show.

Gaby and Carlos’ storyline looks very interesting. Of all the storylines, theirs appears to be the most interesting. It will be interesting to see Gaby take care of  a younger version of herself. The storyline could truly give Gaby an opportunity to grow as she sees what she used to be like.

Mike and Susan appear to be giving it another go or at least I am assuming the Mike and Susan were the ones getting married. Hopefully Desperate Housewives has something new an interesting to do with Mike and Susan.

The one storyline that doesn’t interest me is the Bree love triangle. Maybe it is just me but I think the Bree/Karl relationship is stupid. Hopefully this storyline doesn’t last long next season.

SURVIVOR: TOCANTINSSurvivor (I Trust You But I Trust Me More): While last night’s finale was far from suspenseful, I really couldn’t complain about the outcome. As a matter of fact I really couldn’t of complained no matter who won. While I prefered JT or Steven winning, I didn’t mind if Taj or Erinn won.

This fact was actually the only negative I had about the finale. With no one that I truly dispised in the finale, there was absolutely no suspense in the finale.

It also wasn’t like no one could have predicted that JT was going to win. As soon as he won the final immunity challenge he was almost guarenteed victory. The only way he might have lost if he totally blew the final tribal council. Obviously he didn’t and he ended up winning in a unaminous vote.

I really can’t complain about JT winning since he really did deserve to win.

PS Coach. Even if you took a lie detector test and somehow passed, I still believe you are a liar.

Next Season: We didn’t find out much about the next season of Survivor except that it will take place in Samoa. I hope Survivor actually gives us a big twist this season. I also hope exile island and the hidden immunities are dumped since both have become stale and pointless at this point in the game. I have been advocating for a one tribe Survivor for a very long time and hopefully it will finally happen. Survivor has had so many twists in the past and yet the show still hasn’t had a season where there are no tribes and it is a free for all from the beginning. I think this twist could bring Survivor something that it hasn’t had in years: an interesting twist.

family guy peters progress 300x225 Sunday Finale Roundup: The Good and the Bad

Family Guy (Peter’s Progress): While this week’s episodes was better than last week’s, it wasn’t better by much.

The main storyline was boring and stupid. Two things saved this episode in my opinion. First was the appearance of the How I Met Your Mother cast. While it makes no sense why they were in Medieval England, there brief appearance was one of the only bright spots of the episode. It doesn’t hurt that I think How I Met Your Mother is the best comedy on television. Otherwise the fox promos at the bottom of the screen were somewhat funny for a while but the joke was overused.

Next Season: After a slump season, hopefully Family Guy can get back on track next season. Maybe it is just me but this was a very disappointing season for Family Guy. There were only a couple above average episodes this season, and the rest were disappointments. Hopefully Family Guy can get the wackiness and humor back next season. I am holding out hope since Family Guy’s parity of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi are both on the slate for next season.

homerica 267x300 Sunday Finale Roundup: The Good and the BadThe Simpsons (Coming to Homerica): Like most of this season, the season finale of The Simpsons wasn’t anything special. I didn’t find the episode particularly funny and this week’s episode was another indication that The Simpsons is really starting to show its age.

Next Season: Next season I am hoping for more consistency out of the Simpsons. The Simpsons had a couple good episodes this season but had more misses than hits. The Simpsons is starting to show its age but I am hoping that things can be improved next season.Who knows? The Simpsons could have a revitalizing new season next year.
