Overall I thought last night’s episode of Smallville was actually a little better than I thought it would be. I would still say Smallville is past it’s prime though. As far as the episode itself is concerned, all I was left wondering is are all aliens evil. Many aliens have traveled to Smallville and a whopping 3 have not been evil (Clark, Kara, and the Martian Manhunter). I wouldn’t want to live on a different planet if essentially everyone is evil. You might just say that only the evil aliens travel to Earth but I don’t believe that since you would think at least some good aliens would come to Earth.
The latest of the evil aliens is Maxima. After not being satisfied by any men on her home planet she decides to travel through the galaxy in order to find the perfect mate. When Tess’ scientists activate a beacon in the crystal she locks onto Earth. She goes on a murderous rampage through Smallville in order to find Clark. Since she doesn’t know who Clark is she end up kissing a bunch of men and this kills them since they can’t handle her power. Jimmy actually falls victim as well (after reading a love letter Chloe wrote to Clark). Clark saves him like usual (it’s just amazing how Clark can always be in the perfect spot to always help his friends).
Maxima eventually finds Clark and tries to convince him that she is the perfect woman for him. When she sees Lois though she knows there is something between them (it’s pretty sad that an alien can tell there is something between them before they even know it). Maxima tries to kill Lois but Clark ends up stopping her. Clark ends up teleporting her back to her homeworld (through her bracelet). I don’t know if it is just me but I have no idea how this would stop her. Couldn’t she just as easily just come back to the planet. I guess your just not supposed to think about that.
Meanwhile Clark and Chloe decide to try and get Jor El’s crystal from Tess. Clark thinks they could use it in order to restore the fortress and also cure Chloe. Chloe offers to help Tess decrypt the crystal but the crystal has mysteriously gone missing. Tess ends up getting an email telling her that she is not yet ready to learn of the secrets of the crystal.
