Clark heads to his first day at the Daily Planet. Lois quickly makes him change since he doesn’t look professional in his plaid shirts (this give him the perfect opportunity to change in a phone booth). A explosion is then heard. Clark rushes to the explosion and it turns out that a bus expoded. Clark helps people get out of the bus. Clark also uses his super hearing to determine that there wasn’t a bomb on the bus.
Clark returns to the Daily Planet where he meets with his new boss, Tess, who he just so happened to save form the bus explosion. Tess tries to get Clark to help her find Lex but Clark plays ignorant. Tess knows that Clark has a secret and she is determined to discover what it is.
Meanwhile Chloe takes one of the victims (Bette) of the bus explosion home with her (she is homeless). Chloe also meets Davis Bloome who is one of the paramedics that responded to the explosion. Clark meets with them and tells them that there was no bomb. Bette tells them that she thinks her friend was responsible since things heat up around him whenever he get angry. Clark, Chloe, and Bette try to talk with him but some gas tanks near him explode which kills him. It turns out that Bette was responsible for the attacks since she killed the man in order to cover her own tracks.
Clark and Chloe eventually realize this and when Chloe confronts Bette, Bette tells Chloe that she had to do everything she did in order to get away from Lex’s men since they were trying to lock her up again. Bette is about to kill Chloe in order to get away but Clark comes to her rescue. Bette ends up being put in prison. Tess bails her out of prison though in order to join her group of meteorite soldiers.
Clark finally finds out about Chloe’s engagement and he is happy for her. Meanwhile at the Daily Planet Clark finishes his first story and Lois sees potential in him.
