In the early 1990’s a show by the name of Sister Sister aired on the WB. I had never watched the series before I received a copy of the second season for review. I really wasn’t that much into television. While I wouldn’t consider Sister Sister a great series, if you are interested in a new family comedy to get you through the summer Sister Sister is a solid option.
Sister Sister is similar to your basic family comedy. The series follows two teenage girls Tia and Tamera (twins who were separated at birth) who end up reuniting after being apart for years. Joining them are their adoptive parents Lisa and Ray. Being long lost twins brings its own challenges as everyone tries to adapt to their situation.
Overall I thought the series was pretty average. It wasn’t great but it wasn’t terrible either. The show has it’s moments but also has quite a few slow parts. The idea of the main characters being twins brings a twist to the family comedy but I thought it grew old pretty quickly.
One disappointment for fans of the series is that there are no special features. Older shows rarely get special features but I believe it would have been nice to at least add some sort of special feature. Interviews, blooper reel, or anything else would have sufficed. While it is not a deal breaker, fans of the series will probably be disappointed.
Overall I thought Sister Sister was a pretty average family sitcom. If you are a fan of family sitcoms or have fond memories of the series I would recommend that you pick up Sister Sister on dvd. Otherwise I would recommend that you pass on the second season of Sister Sister.
