Review: This episode didn’t really make for a great start to the 20th season. If this is the best that “The Simpsons” can come up with now, I think the 20th season should be the last. Other than the St. Patrick’s Day fight there wasn’t really a lot to laugh about and the stories were quite random as well. Marge’s story was very underdeveloped and probably should have just been scrapped. Homer’s was better but still not great.
Recap:
Couch Gag: Boba Fett from “Star Wars” freezes the family into carbonite.
It’s St. Patrick’s Day and Springfield’s first ever “booze free” celebration of the holiday. The parades of the Northern Irish and regular Irish run right into each other. The two fight (Lisa breaks it up for awhile but the lack of beer gets them fighting again). Meanwhile, Marge’s cupcakes are stolen by a group of kids. An Irish guy named Patrick gets them back for her and she gives him one to thank him. He loves it and offers her a job at his bakery.
Homer and many others are arrested for fighting. Homer has to get a bail bond but he is warned that if he doesn’t show up, “Wolf the Bounty Hunter” will track him down. Homer thinks that is a great job and quickly becomes one. His first job is Snake but he points a gun at him and pulls the trigger. Luckily Ned saves him with the bulletproof window he was just about to install at his store. Homer arrests him and splits the reward with Ned. He wants Ned to join the team and he agrees as long as everything is by the book.
Marge continues to impress Patrick but gets curious about the odd shapes she has to bake. She finds out that she is working at an erotic baker and is angry at first until Patrick points out that the place doesn’t hurt anyone. Homer and Ned track down several other bail jumpers but none of their plans work perfectly. The job is going well as is Marge’s.
Luigi is Homer and Ned’s latest target. He manages to get away from them and hop on the subway. Homer doesn’t give up and drives onto the subway track just to arrest Luigi. He also puts a bag over Luigi’s head, which prompts Ned to quit. However, his agency has one more bail jumper for him to catch, Homer. He doesn’t want the case until he checks out the other very scary bounty hunters that could take it instead. He tries to arrest Homer and his house but he makes a run for it. In a very Casino Royale-like chase sequence, the two run through a building that is exploding, hop from car to car on a highway, and wind up on the high beams in a construction sight. Ned is about to fall but Homer helps him out. Unfortunately Homer isn’t holding onto anything and both plummet, right into wet cement. Homer is arrested and spends a day in jail. Marge sends him a cake to keep him occupied.
