Last night the eighth season of Smallville began and I have to say that it proved the point that the show shouldn’t have gottne another season. Smallville showed in my opinion that the show has just been on television too long. It happens to every show. I personally thought Smallville should have ended a season or two ago but CW decided to give the show one more season. The episode wasn’t terrible but I really wish networks would end show when their time has come instead of keeping them on the air too long. Fans of the show do you agree with me? We pick up 4 weeks after the point where last season ended off. Lex’s researchers are in the artic trying to find Lex. A woman named Tess Mercer arrives and tells all the researchers that she is now in charge of Luthorcorp until Lex is found. She doesn’t think Lex is dead and is forcing all of her workers to continue working until they find him. There research is cut short though when Green Arrow, Aquaman, and Black Canary crash their research facility in their quest to find Clark.
Meanwhile back in Smallville Lois tries to steal information from Lex’s mansion in order to see where he had Chloe taken. Tess finds her though and throws her out of the mansion. Chloe turns out to be in Montana. She is being tested on since she all of a sudden can decode computer code and find patterns within seconds. Chloe wants to be let go but she won’t be let go until she helps find some terrorists. It turns out that she is actually being held by Lex’s men and she actually helps them find and capture Black Canary and Aquaman.
Meanwhile accross the world in Russia, Clark is stuck in a work camp. He tries to break out but since he doesn’t have his powers his escape plan isn’t very successful. Oliver Queen shows up at the work camp and ends up picking a fight with Clark in order to safely get him out of the work camp. They take Oliver’s jet back to the USA and Clark tells him that he thinks Lex is still alive. Clark also tells him that Jor El must have taken away all of his powers in order to stop Lex from controlling him. They both decide they need to free Chloe if they want any chance of finding Lex.
Meanwhile Lex’s men start running tests on Aquaman and Black Canary. They ask both of them about the Traveler but neither give up Clark’s identity. Meanwhile Clark and the Green Arrow break into the compound. The Green Arrow is caught by Lex’s men and is injected with a chemical so he has to follow their commands. The Green Arrow confronts Clark and asks him where Lex is. When Clark doesn’t answer the Green Arrow shoots him twice and one of the shots are fatal. Chloe (rescued earlier) tries to heal him but her power appears to be gone. The Martian Manhunter shows up just in time though and flies Clark towards the sun in order to recharge him. Clark’s powers are restored and he survives the wounds he sustained. Clark and the Justice League decide to split up and try to find Lex since he is a danger knowing Clark’s secret.
To wrap things up Tess takes over Lex’s mansion. Chloe says yes to Jimmy’s marriage proposal. Finally Clark gets a job as a reporter at the Daily Planet.
