“How I Met Your Mother” is back and just as good as before. Barney’s story was particularly hilarious (especially his ode to bimbos) and Ted’s had some good character development. Even though Stella said yes to Ted’s proposal, I really hope she isn’t the mother. While their chemistry is good, Ted has had better chemistry with many of the other girls he has dated (Robin, coat check girl, and a few others)
Ted and Stella: Ted imagines every possible response to his proposal (no, no with a laugh, she’s interested in another guy, etc.) but her real answer is yes. After Marshall questions him about Stella, Ted realizes that he doesn’t know very much about her (even her eye color). Marshall suggests he slow it down. Ted makes Stella dinner but accidentally adds peanuts (Stella is allergic) and sends her to the hospital. Afterward, he tries to learn everything he can about her. Ted finds out that Stella has never seen “Star Wars,” which is easily his favorite movie. Marshall is pissed off and wonders what would happen if she doesn’t like it. It is basically a compatibility test to him, if she doesn’t like “Star Wars,” Ted shouldn’t be dating her.
Ted and Stella watch “Star Wars” to see if she is compatible. It is easy to tell that Stella isn’t very interesting since she doesn’t want to read the words at the beginning and is more interested in making out then watching the film. She does realize it is important to him that she likes the film so she watches the rest of the movie closely. At the end, she tells Ted she loved it. However, she tells Marshall that she actually hated it because it was “so stupid.” Marshall tells her that Ted watches it “in sickness and in health” and asks her if she can fake loving it for the rest of her life. She can.
Barney and Robin: Barney calls Lily over early in the morning but he can’t get the words he was going to say out of his mouth. He eventually does tell her that he thinks he is in love with Robin. Lily thinks this is sweet but Barney thinks it’s gross. He “caught feelings.” He can’t eat or sleep and even thinks of Robin when he sleeps with another girl. Lily tells him to stop screwing around if he wants to be Robin’s boyfriend. She decides to take “the confused kid” under her wing if he stops sleeping around.
Barney can’t even call Robin to set up a date. He then tells Lily that he was just playing a practical joke on her. Lily doesn’t believe this and gets Robin and him in a bar alone. Barney acts very nice and starts to freak Robin out. Robin tries to get him to snap out of it but fails. He won’t even stare at the waitress’ rack. Robin, who is getting sick of her job as “the boogeyman with a teleprompter,” tells Barney that another job has opened up. She doesn’t want to go for it since she is a joke. Barney makes her promise to apply. Since Barney was so nice to her, Robin plays wing woman and sets him up with a hot girl. Barney knows Robin will never feel the same way and so he does sleep with this woman. Lily tells him to stop and that he has to choose bimbos or Robin. He chooses bimbos. Robin was a fling but “his heart belongs to bimbos.” However, after Lily leaves he turns the news on and smiles when he sees Robin.
