After a very long wait Heroes is finally back. After such a long break I was a little disappointed by the two hour season premiere. I thought the episode was still very good and set up some very good storylines for this season. The one thing I just can’t get over though is how many storylines this show has stolen from the 4400. Mohinder’s storyline is essentially stolen straight from the 4400. This isn’t a terrible thing since the 4400 was a great show (if you are a Heroes fan and you haven’t checked it out you really should) but after you have seen the 4400 you can tell that Heroes took quite a few of their story ideas from the 4400. Since the premiere was two hours the second half of the episode will be covered in another recap. Let’s get to the recap for those of you who missed the season premiere.
Future Peter and Nathan
Peter is running through the streets 4 years in the future. He is cornered by Claire who pulls a gun on him. She is upset with him since everyone who has abilities was outed and they have all been rounded up and put in camps so tests could be done on them. Claire actually shoots at Peter but Peter uses Hiro’s ability to avoid the ability. He travels to the present day and it turns out that he is the person who shoots Nathan. Nathan dies for a minute or two but future Peter uses his ability to revive Nathan.
Nathan wakes up after being revived. The media follows him as he heads to a chapel. Nathan tells everyone that he saw God and that God brought him back in order to do great things and help humankind. Future Peter ends up telling Nathan who he is at that he had to shoot him in order to stop him from telling everyone about their abilities. Angela Petrelli meets with Future Peter and tells him that he messed up everything. She supposedly can see the future and him coming back in time has essentially created an even worse future than the one he tried to stop.
Hiro and Ando
Hiro is bored now that he is in charge of his father’s company. He wants to do something with his life. When his lawyer shows up with a message that his father left Hiro plays it. His father tells him about his safe and tells him never to open it. Hiro obviously doesn’t listen and ends up opening it. Inside is a piece of paper and another video. Hiro’s father tells him that he needs to protect his half of the formula because if it gets in the wrong hands the world will end.
As soon as Hiro opens up the package it is stolen by a woman who travels at supersonic speeds. Hiro uses his ability to stop time and they talk for a while until the woman knocks him out and gets away. Hiro decides to go to the future and see what happens if he doesn’t retireve the future. The future is far from good since Tokoyo is destroyed and Ando ends up killing Hiro with a red lightnening bolt.
Sylar and Claire
Sylar shows up at Claire’s house and chases her around the house. Syler ends up subduing Claire and ends up cutting the top off her head. He gains Claire’s ability but doesn’t eat her brain. Claire asks him why and he says that she is special and that she won’t ever die.
Mohinder and Maya
Mohinder is ready to return to India when he discovers that Maya’s ability only acts up when she gets angry. He then has a breakthrough that the abilities must come when adrenaline interacts with the unique DNA. Mohinder ends up creating a shot that allows anyone to gain abilities as long as they inject it into their body. Maya tries talking Mohinder out of using the shot since she thinks all of the abilities are evil. Mohinder doesn’t listen though and ends up taking the shot. Mohinder passes out after taking the shot. When he wakes up some men try to mug him but he uses his new ability (strength and agility) to beat them up.
Matt
Matt finds the gun that future Peter stashed and confronts Peter about it. Future Peter can’t have Matt keep asking questions so he teleports Matt to the middle of an African desert. While in the desert Matt finds a painted rock that shows the world exploding.
