Next week the second season of Chuck begins on NBC but for those of you who just can’t wait (I am one of you) you can check out the season two premiere here. We here at the TV Legion are huge Chuck fans (since we are kind of nerds ourselves) so we obviously took the first opportunity we could get to check out the second season. Why don’t I just say that I am far from disappointed in the season two premiere.
While I wouldn’t say that it was any better than the first season that is far from an insult since Chuck was tied for the best new show of last season. After only one season it is already one of my favorite shows on television. If you have never given Chuck a chance, shame on you since you are missing one of the best shows on television. While the show has some nerdy type references you should enjoy the show even if you don’t consider yourself a nerd.

The episode begins with Chuck being held over a cliff and interrogated by a man named Mr. Colt. Chuck actually tries to tell him about everything that has recently happened to him but Mr. Colt just doesn’t believe him. Casey and Sarah then show up and save Chuck but Mr. Colt gets away. Chuck hands over a piece of computer equipment named the cipher. It turns out that the government is creating a new intercept and that was the last piece they needed. Chuck is now free to live his normal life since the government doesn’t need him anymore. When Sarah and Chuck leave the room Casey is told that he will have to kill Chuck since the government can’t let his secrets be let out.
Chuck is so happy that he is finally able to live his normal life. Everything is going perfect for Chuck (except for seeing Ellie and Captain Awesome together in the shower). Chuck has also decided to actually do something with his life. Meanwhile at the Buy More BIg Mike wants to give Chuck a promotion but Chuck doesn’t take it since he doesn’t want to be stuck at the Buy More forever. Chuck is then forced to interview the rest of the employees and pick one of them for the promotion. This doesn’t affect Chuck though since he is so happy. He actually even asks Sarah out on a date since she is going to be leaving town soon. She actually agrees to go out with him.
While Casey is preparing to kill Chuck (which he is having second thoughts about) he gets a visitor. Casey thinks it is the person who is supposed to pick up the cipher. It turns out to be a hitman who steals the cipher and poisons Casey. Casey is almost killed until he uses the safety precautions installed in his house. Meanwhile Chuck and Sarah are enjoying their date and Chuck is about to kiss her when he realizes that they are surrounded by hitman. Mr. Colt shows up and is about to take Chuck with him when Casey drives his car through the restaurant window and saves both of them. He is bunched in the face by Mr. Colt though.
Chuck is depressed since he has to remain the intercept since they lost the cipher. While at work Chuck gets a hit on the mark on Casey’s face (an indentation was made when Mr. Colt punched him). Chuck finds where their base is but Casey is relunctant to act right away (he doesn’t want to have to kill Chuck). They end up storming the location but find nothing.
Meanwhile Chuck gets a call to help someone with their computer. He ends up walking into a trap. Mr Colt is about to kill Chuck since he knows his identity. Chuck thinks on the top of his head and pretends that the FBI is surrounding their location. Mr. Colt and his men actually fall for it which allows Chuck to steal the cipher and get away. He doesn’t get far though since Mr. Colt catches and holds him over the roof of the building. Sarah, Casey and the rest of the agents show up in time and save Chuck.
The cipher is retrieved and the intercept is reassembled. Casey talks with his superior and tries to talk her out of the kill order on Chuck. She won’t budge so Casey is forced to kill Chuck. Casey ends up sneaking into Chuck’s house and is about to kill Chuck when Sarah shows up. Casey overhears Sarah tells Chuck that the cipher ended up blowing up the intercept (killing CIA Director Graham) and that they now need to keep protecting Chuck since he is the only cipher left. Chuck is depressed that he will have to stay the intercept. Morgan cheers him up at work though.
