Kathy Cox (Georgia state superintendent of schools):
- Before starting the game, Kathy brings up Jeff’s permanent record (he went to school in Georgia). He was on the honor roll three times (just because he took a bunch of art classes) and he had a tendency to moon people at football games.
- Question 1 (1st Grade Measurements): “What is the first month of the U.S. calendar year that has exactly 30 days?” She goes with April and is correct.
- Question 2 (2nd Grade Animal Science): “True or false? Crawfish are fish.” She isn’t sure but she goes with false. She’s correct.
- Question 3 (2nd Grade Spelling): “How many times does the letter “D” appear in the following word? Granddaughter.” Obviously you already know the answer is 2. Kathy goes with that answer as well and is correct.
- Question 4 (1st Grade English): “What is the two letter abbreviation for the word “doctor?”" She goes with Dr and is correct.
- Question 5 (4th Grade Social Studies): “The U.S. Naval Academy is located in what city?” She knows it is Annapolis, Maryland and is correct.
- Kathy will donate all her winnings to three special needs classes.
- Question 6 (4th Grade World Geography): “Costa Rica borders two countries. Nicaragua is one of the countries. What is the other?” She thinks it is Panama and eventually locks in with that answer. She’s correct.
- Question 7 (3rd Grade Health): “Which of the following foods contains no natural protein? A. Whole milk, B. Pure sugar, C. Raw eggs” She goes with B and is correct.
- Question 8 (3rd Grade Cultural Studies): “Which of the following is NOT an official language of Switzerland? A. German, B. Italian, C. Spanish” She locks in with C and is once again correct.
- Question 9 (5th Grade Art): “What is the name of the following painting by Norwegian artist Edward Munch?” Obviously there is no way you’ll know this answer without the photo. She knows it is “The Scream” and is correct.
- Question 10 (5th Grade U.S. History): “Which commanding British general surrendered to American troops at the Battle of Yorktown in 1781?” Kathy peeks at Olivia’s paper even though she thinks it is Cornwallis. Olivia wrote Potter but Kathy still goes with Cornwallis. She’s correct for $500,000.
- Million Dollar Question (World History): She decides to go for it. The question is “Who was the longest reigning British monarch?” She goes with Queen Victoria and is correct, becoming the first million dollar winner in the show’s history. This isn’t surprising since much like NBC for “Deal or No Deal,” the show was promoting the possibility of a million dollar winner in this episode.
