- Question 1 (1st Grade U.S. Geography): “What ocean borders New York City?” She knows it is the Atlantic Ocean and is correct.
- Question 2 (1st Grade Animal Science): “True or false? All birds migrate.” She goes with false and is correct.
- Question 3 (2nd Grade World Geography): “The country of Belgium is located on what continent?” Kathy locks in with Europe and is correct.
- Question 4 (2nd Grade English): “If you add the suffix “ly” onto the word “quick” you’ll make a new word. What part of speech is that new word?” She correctly locks in with adverb.
- Question 5 (3rd Grade Measurements): “Which of the following can be measured in decibels? A. A snail’s speed, B. A whale’s blubber content, C. A rattlesnake’s rattle” Kathy locks in with C and is correct.
- Question 6 (3rd Grade Math): “If you add the number of sides of a rectangle to the number of sides of a pentagon, what number do you get?” She goes with 9 and is correct.
- Question 7 (4th Grade Literature): “In the mid 1700s what man published a yearly periodical known as the “Poor Richard’s Almanack” under the pseudonym Richard Saunders?” She’s pretty sure it is Benjamin Franklin and goes with that answer. She’s correct.
- Question 8 (4th Grade Social Studies): “What historical document begins with the words, “when in the course of human events”? A. U.S. Declaration of Independence, B. U.S. Constitution, C. Magna Carta” Kathy peeks at Jonathan’s paper. He wrote B but Kathy goes with A. Kathy is correct.
- Question 9 (5th Grade U.S. History): “The Era of Good Feelings was the name given to the period of peace and prosperity that immediately followed what U.S. war?” Kathy thinks its either World War I or World War II but won’t risk it. She drops out with $175,000. She would have went with World War II and been incorrect because the answer was the War of 1812.
