How I Met Your Mother S4.E7 Not A Father’s Day

Last night was another great episode of How I Met Your Mother. Not a surprise though since even bad episodes of How I Met Your Mother are better than most shows best episodes. While last nights episode wasn’t a classic How I Met Your Mother episode, I would say it was a very good episode.

This week Marshall and Lily decide whether they want to have a baby. Marshall decides not to have a kid after he has to take care of drunk Lily. Well this is probably going to change soon since Alysson Hannigan is actually pregnant so the storyline is coming soon. I am actually glad that they are going to have a kid soon since I can imagine an episode where Barney is forced to take care of the child.

While Marshall and Lily debate having a baby, Barney actually tries to create the holiday of Not A Father’s Day. He ends up dropping the idea after he discovers that all his followers are losers. Barney actually created a website for the holiday which you can find Barney’s Not A Father website here (isn’t it so great that How I Met Your Mother mentions websites and then they actually exist). Barney also introduced us to the Cheerleader effect which involves people looking more attractive when they are in groups. I don’t know if it was just me but I thought it was hilarious when two of the examples were actually Jason Segal (Marshall) dress up as other people.

Finally I thought the Papa Ted jokes were hilarious. It was funny to see how Ted acted like he was the father of the rest of the group and scolded them when they did something wrong.

Quotes:

Barney: “I am one scotch away from the cantina scene in Star Wars.”

Barney: “If one of my Michael Phelps got loose they would go for the gold.”

Marshall: “It appears to be some type of Asian hooker.”

Robin (to Ted): “Shut up dad.”

Lily (while drunk): “Let’s rob a liquor store.”

The Big Bang Theory S2.E7 The Panty PiƱata Polarization

Just like How I Met Your Mother, I don’t think the Big Bang Theory can have a bad episode. Once again this week’s episode was hilarious. First there was the whole fight between Penny and Sheldon which abrubtly ended when Penny calls Sheldon’s mother. This got me to thinking once again about how anyone could stand Sheldon enough that they could actually become friends with him. I know I wouldn’t be friends with a guy that has a strike policy and if you get three strikes you need to attend his class that is taught by him. While I would never want to meet Sheldon in real life, he is hilarious and one of the funniest characters on television right now.

The other main storyline of the episode involved Howard and Koothrapali trying to find the America’s Next Top Model house by using things such as spy satelittes. While it is a little creepy, I thought it was hilarious that they were able to find the house just by watching the show.

Quotes:

Sheldon: “Okay Klingons, pencils down.”

Howard: “Like she didn’t think we were nerds.”

Howard (after Penny insults Howard’s “future bride”): “And you’re not invited to our wedding.”

Leonard: “I’ll make a motion but you won’t like it.”

Penny: “The busses don’t go where you live do they?”

Howard: “By the end of this year there will be a Howard on a next top model.”

Penny: “No shoes. No shirt. No Sheldon.”

Leonard: “The man’s one lab accident away from being a superhero.”

Penny: “Your Ken can kiss my Barbie.”

Chuck S2.E6 Chuck Versus the Ex

Another great episode of Chuck and yet no one is still watching the show. NBC I beg of you to do the smart thing and switch My Own Worst Enemy and Chuck. My Own Worst Enemy has essentially no chance of surviving but Chuck could be a hit if you would just give it a chance at a different time slot in order to get it away from all the other youth skewing shows.

Enough ranting about the ratings. Let’s actually discuss last night’s episode since it was a very good episode in my opinion. There really wasn’t much not to like about the episode. First there was Sara and her Australian accent. For those of you who don’t know Yvonne Strahovski (Sara) is actually Australian so that is actually how she probably talks when not in character (and boy is it different than that on the show). Second there was the “kiss” portrayed in the picture above. I thought it was hilarious when Chuck ended up kissing Casey when he thought it might save him from the poison. Third I thought it was hilarious when Morgan and Lester had Jeff choke in order to get the answers to their CPR test. Finally I actually like the addition of Jill (Chuck’s former girlfriend). Since they really can’t get Chuck and Sara back together until the end of the show, I think it was good to actually give Chuck a girlfriend for once. She will alco be on a couple more episodes this season so Chuck should be happy for at least a couple more episodes.

Quotes:

Jeff (after Big Mike almost chokes on a donut): “Are there anymore donuts?”

Casey (to Chuck): “You had mojo?”

Chuck: “She slept with Bryce Larkin.”
Casey: “Who hasn’t?”

Morgan: “We lost Big Mike to donuts years ago.”

Casey: “She exercised her 1st amendment right to dump you.”

Chuck: “I know. Stay in the van.”

Jill: “Your window is knocking.”

Casey (before Chuck kisses him): “Let me die with dignity.”

Heroes S3.E8 Villains

Overall a pretty solid episode of Heroes. While it was good to see the past of some of the supporting characters, I think the show really needs to start staying in th present way too often. It seems like someone goes into the past or future in every single episode. This makes the show too hard to follow at times. Hopefully this can be corrected in the future. While I don’t really like all the time traveling and I don’t really care for some of the supporting characters that were featured in this episode, I thought the episode was pretty interesting. I particularly liked how this episode connected to many things that happened in the first season including Claire’s mom actually causing the train crash that Claire would eventually save people from.

Another thing I actually liked about the episode was the Elle and Sylar relationship. I actually have a feeling that it is not over either since remember when they went into the future earlier this season Sylar had a child but the mother was mysteriously missing. I am probably way out there but I think Elle and Sylar possibly could get back together in the future.

One thing about the episode is worrying me though. Since Arthur took Hiro’s ability I hope the show keeps his character and doesn’t just write him off since Hiro is easily the best Hero. I have a feeling that he will eventually get his ability back or get a new one since Peter would pretty much be worthless as well since he has no abilities at this time as well. While I liked Hiro’s time traveling ability, I actually wouldn’t mind if the show restored his powers and actually gave him a different power. This would actually solve my problem with all the shifts in time as well.

Quotes:

HRG: “I was afraid you were going to burst into song.”

Meredith: “They are tricking you because you’re dumb.”

Angela (after poisoning Arthur): “I lied. It’s not your mother’s recipe.”
