If you checked out my dvd review of the second season of Pushing Daisies yesterday you should know that I was a big fan of Pushing Daisies and I really enjoyed the second season dvd. Today I am reviewing the Blu-Ray verison of the second season. I have to say that while the dvd version was great, the Blu-Ray version is even better.

Instead of just rehashing what I said yesterday, if you want an introduction to Pushing Daisies or want to know why I love the show so much I recommend that you check out yesterday’s post on the dvd version. In this review I am going to touch more on what is unique about the Blu-Ray version and why I would recommend it over the Blu-Ray version if you have the cash and have a Blu-Ray player.

The first noticeable difference is the video quality. Video quality is a main reason why a lot of people buy Blu-Ray in the first place. Unlike some shows, the upgrade to Blu-Ray is definitely worth it. You really can’t be disappointed by the video quality of the second season of Pushing Daisies on Blu-Ray. With how colorful Pushing Daisies is, it really shines in Blu-Ray. While the show looks great in regular definition, it is leagues better in Blu-Ray. Besides possibly a show that has a lot of explosions or special effects, I don’t think you will find a show that looks better in Blu-Ray.

As far as special features the Blu-Ray version gives fans the same special features as the dvd version. While I personally would have liked a feature that discussed what would have been the future of Pushing Daisies if it had one, fans should not be disappointed with what they ended up getting. Fans get a look behind creating the show, a script, the music and special effects.

One thing that might disappoint fans is that the special features aren’t in high def. This is disappointing since I don’t think it would have been that hard to put them in high def. It doesn’t ruin the special features but high def special effects would have been appreciated. I really don’t know why so many Blu-Rays fail to put the special features in high def as well.

If you have given Pushing Daisies a chance and didn’t like it or don’t like the fantasy or crime drama genre; I wouldn’t recommend picking up the second season on Blu-Ray. If you are a fan of the series I would recommend picking up the second season. If video quality doesn’t really matter I would recommend picking up the second season of Pushing Daisies on dvd. If you have the spare cash and have a Blu-Ray player I would recommend picking up the Blu-Ray since it is a significant improvement over the dvd in my opinion.
