I don’t know if it just me but I was extremely underwhelmed by this episode. It just wasn’t that interesting in my opinion. Combine that with the fact that this episode wasn’t that funny (compared to Psych standards) and I thought this was probably one of Psych’s worst episodes in my opinion. One thing I did like about the episode is that it appears that the show is going forward with the Juliet-Shawn relationship. It was pretty obvious that it was going to happen sometime. It also doesn’t hurt that I think they are actually dating in real life. If this storyline actually happens I think it could be pretty important since I have a feeling that Juliet will find out Shawn’s secret (he is not a psychic). This is just a guess but I think someone will find out about it soon and Juliet is the only one that really makes any sense. You probably have already heard enough of my wacky theories so let’s get to the recap.
In 1987 Shawn gets busted by Henry for playing with a Beebe gun in the backyard. Shawn tries to win it back by playing one of Henry’s games but Henry won’t give it back to him.
Meanwhile in the present day a group of people rob a fashion store and knock the guard out in the process. This turns out to be the third similar robbery so Shawn is brought in on the case. Shawn quickly shows his worth by determining that the robbers were women and that they are part of a roller derby team (skate marks were found on the floor). Juliet ends up having to join a local roller deby team in order to go undercover. Shawn cuts the possible guilty parties down to two teams since they have an off day for each robbery.
Juliet quickly joins the team and she actually gets a call to meet the girls at a secret meeting (this ruins a romantic diner Shawn planned for Juliet). Juliet thinks the meeting is to rob a place so she has some police backup. It actually turns out to be a filming for a music video. Juliet gets chewed out by karen for wasting time and money but Shawn protects her by taking all the blame.
Shawn then starts piecing together which roller derby girls are responsible for the robberies. He figures out that a woman named Wild was there since her trandmark skate oil was found at the crime scene. Juliet checks the girl’s locker room and finds some scanner hidden in the ceiling. Shawn then follows one of the women (Westwood) as she drive towards the pier and drops what appears to be a body into the water. It turns out just to be a manequin but they also find all the other stolen goods with it. Two of the other roller derby women see the police find their stash so they get suspicious of Westwood and Juliet.
Shawn and Gus head back to the store where the robbery took place. Shawn determines that the robbers went into the employee lounge. They check out the back and almost get maced when the employee thinks they are trying to rob the place. The security guard tells her that they are with the police even though both think Gus stole a shirt for the store since he is dressed just like one of the manequins in the store. Shawn investigates the employee lounge and determines that the robbers were after the credit card applications left in the back of the store. Instead of stealing goods there target was stealing indentities.
Shawn and Gus worry that the roller derby women are onto Juliet so they rush back to the arena. They end up finding Westwood dead in her trunk. Shawna nd Gus rush into the arena to see Juliet getting attacked by all the roller derby women. They both step in to try and stop them and Gus is almost knocked unconscious. They end up subduing the guilty parties and they are arrested for the robberies and the murder of Westwood. In order to celebrate solving the case Shawn and Juliet rollerskate together.
Throughout the whole episode Gus was focussed on studying for an exam that he needed to take in order to keep his job at the pharmacutical company. When the time for the test comes Gus can’t log into his test. It turns out that Shawn took the test for him. Shawn thinks he passed the test but Gus is still upset with him.
