Missed Last Night’s Episode?:
, ABC.com
It’s the last Private Practice of the year and the final episode before it moves to Thursday’s at 10/9 C (which is such an obvious move that I have no idea why the show wasn’t in the post Grey’s Anatomy spot in the first place). While Private Practice has had some growing pains, I have to admit that the show has grown some this season. While it is still not as good as Grey’s Anatomy (despite the colossal mess that is going on behind the scenes), Private Practice has established itself as a solid show this season mostly due to the fact that the characters are finally starting to act like the adults they truly are. With the influx of viewers from Grey’s Anatomy along with a couple crossover episodes planned, Private Practice is probably in for a big year in 2009 especially in the ratings category. Enough about the season as a whole let’s get to yesterday’s episode.
We’ll begin with Addison’s storyline. It appears that Addison’s relationship with Kevin is either already over or is on it’s last legs after Kevin thinks that Addison is ashamed of him. I really don’t care either way about this development. I really didn’t like or hate Kevin so I honestly don’t care what became of the relationship.
Onto Violet and Pete. After sleeping together in the last episode, they are awkward around one another at the office especially when Meg returns to town. Eventually they can’t keep away from one another and Meg sees them kissing. At this point I don’t know what to think of Pete and Violet. I will take a wait and see approach on the situation.
Cooper’s storyline was the best of the episode in my opinion. Cooper ends up taking care of a young boy who was actually kidnapped by his father in order to get him away from his mother’s abusive boyfriend. While I like the storyline it did raise some questions. I really don’t think they had to go on the run. If they went to the police and the kid explained what was happening at his mother’s I would think the police would have to investigate and should find proof of child abuse. In TV land though these things aren’t considered though.
For the final storyline Naomi is approached by Charlotte’s competing practice in order to help a woman get pregnant. Naomi decides to help the woman even though that means working for the enemy. At this point I think the competing practice storyline is decent but if continues for the rest of the season I will get bored of it pretty soon.
So what are your thoughts on the first half of Private Practice’s second season? What did you think of this week’s episode? What do you want to see in the second half of the second season?
Quotes:
Addison: “Do you think they drugged the coffee?”
Sam: “Are you sucking in your gut?”
Pete: “Are you just going to answer questions with questions?”
Violet: “That’s what therapists do.”
