Prison Break: Scylla (September 1st, 2008)

prisonbreak logo 300x225 Prison Break: Scylla (September 1st, 2008)After a long break Prison Break is finally back. Last season disappointed me quite a bit so I didn’t know what to think out of this season. I would have to say that I was a little surprised by this season. While it took a couple jump the shark moments to get the series where it currently is I actually think the idea for this season could work as long as no one needs to be broke out of prison again and no one is supposedly killed but actually isn’t. The one thing I really can’t get over is the feeling that this is just like Ocean’s Eleven. Instead it should be called Scoffield’s Seven. Hopefully this season continues down a good path unlike last season which fell apart during the season. Let’s get to the recap for those of you who missed the last episode.

Michael is in LA tracking down Whistler, Gretchen, and Mahone. Michael spies on them as they head to a party to buy a data card that the companywants. Michael sneaks into the party as part of the wait staff. Whistler buys the data card from two men and when the transaction is over he kills both of them. Michael catches Whistler as he tries to leave and holds him at gunpoint. Gretchen shows up and Michael holds her up as well. Michael is about to shoot both of them when Gretchen tells Michael that Sara is still alive and that she faked the death in order to make Michael break Whistler out. Michael decides to let them go since the police are closing in on their location. After the botched assignment Gretchen meets with the big boss of the company and he is not pleased since Wistler switched out the data card with a fake. The big boss sticks Wyatt (his personal hitman) on Gretchen and we don’t find out what happens next.

Back in Panama Lincoln is enjoying life with Sofia and LJ. It also turns out that conveniently Sona burned down so Sucre, Bellick, and T-Bag were able to escape. They all end up sneaking back into the country. Lincoln gets into his own trouble when he is followed by a man from the company. They end up getting into a fight and Lincoln kills the man. Lincoln is arrested by the Panamanian police. Meanwhile T-Bag is beat up in the desert and left to die. T-Bag and his new friend Sancho start walking north through the desert.

Back in the US Michael checks one of his internet sites to see if any of the other escapees have any information for him. There is a message for a meeting. At the meeting Michael meets Mahone. Mahone tells Michael that he and Whistler are working against the company. Mahone tells Michael that they need his help with the data card since it pretty much has all the information needed to bring down the company. Michael meets with Whistler and Whistler tells him that he needs his help to break into a building that has the tools to decode the data card. Whistler tells him if he helps he will help find Sara and they can then live in piece and quiet. Their plan is cut short though since Wyatt shows up and kills Whistler and takes the data card (Michael and Mahone escape in time). Wyatt meets with his boss and is told to kill everyone related to Michael and Lincoln.

Since their plan is already shot Mahone heads to his home to meet his wife and son but he shows up to late since Wyatt has already gotten to them and has killed both of them. Meanwhile in LA Michael calls up Bruce Bennett (one of Sara’s friends) and asks him for his help. The call is cut short since when Michael is arrested. Michael is brought to a man named Donald Self (FBI agent). He offers Michael a deal to let him go free. If Michael helps him bring down the company he will let him go free. Donald then tells him he is assembling a team for Michael which includes Lincoln, Sucre, Mahone, and Bellick who have all conviently been arrested. Their task is to get the data card back and also break into one of the company’s compounds to decode the card.

Michael and Lincoln get some time to decide when their bail is posted. Bruce Bennett bailed them out and take them to an apartment where Sara has been staying. Michael and Sara are so glad to see one another. Their reunion is cut short when Wyatt shows up and storms the house. They all get out safely but Michael and Lincoln decide that they need to take down the company if they are ever going to feel safe again. Before Michael heads to LA with the rest of Scoffield’s Seven he needs to have all of his tattoos removed so he isn’t recognized so easily.
