Missed Last Night’s Episode?:

As Prison Break’s series finale (at this point almost a given) is rounding the corner very soon, I was actually starting to wonder where the show was going for the rest of the season. The show appeared to have written out two of the characters and the storyline was appearing to go in circles. After this week I can see where the show is going and I am like what I am seeing. While some people will be sad to see Prison Break go, you can’t deny that this has been a rebound season for the show and should lead to a good series finale. So for those of you who have already seen the episode join me after the break for my thoughts on everything that happened in last night’s episode.
This week’s stories were pretty much broken into two. I call them the Michael story and the Lincoln story.
We’ll begin with the Michael storyline. At this point I don’t really know what to think about the storyline. The show has tried to make the company not so evil the last couple of week but this week the company finally showed it’s true colors when it tried to brainwash Michael into joining the company. Once again Michael outsmarts everyone and breaks himself out of company custody. Before breaking we got to see more of Michael’s childhood and we also found out that Michael’s mother is still alive (more on that later).
Meanwhile Lincoln and his band of misfits tracked Scylla to Florida. They track down the buyer’s contact but before that happens Lincoln gets set up and shot at. Almost everyone on the team also tries to betray the rest. Finally Mahone (who we were to think was going to ride off into the sunset) showed up and offered to help find Scylla for the second time.
Gretchen ends up betraying the group and sets the rest of the gang to be set up. Gretchen changes her mind at the last minute though and ends up killing the contact and all his henchmen. Gretchen is shot in the process and Lincoln is about to finish her off (for betraying them) when T-Bag shows that he actually has compassion and talks Lincoln. The gang leaves Gretchen behind to be arrested for all her deeds. The rest of the gang continue their search for Scylla. What I want to know though is how the rest of the gang are actually going to be able to work together since none of them should really trust one another. Don’t be surprised if there is at least one more betrayal yet this season.
To end the episode we finally get to see the buyer. In what should come as a surprise to some (I really wasn’t), Michael and Lincoln’s mother turns out to be the buyer who is now in possession of Scylla. The really awkward thing about the whole reveal was that Lincoln essentially threatened to kill his own mother (not knowing that she was the caller).
Overall I think this is a risky move for Prison Break. It could pay off or it could hurt this good final season of Prison Break. If Michael’s mother bought Scylla in order to help bring down the company I think it could turn out pretty good. If it turns out that she bought it though to protect the company and that the company is not that evil I will be upset. You can’t set an organization up to be so evil and then all of a sudden make them good. If Prison Break would get another season to explain why the company isn’t evil I might be ok with them being good, but since this is most likely the last season I want the company to remain evil.
So what are your thoughts on the fall Prison Break finale? Are you excited for what appears to be the final episode of Prison Break? What do you think of Michael and Lincoln’s mother buying Scylla?
Quotes:
Gretchen: “Why don’t we all focus on who actually has Scylla?”
Michael: “Let me guess. You had some moment at the Company Christmas party.”
