S4.E12 “Criss Angel is a Douchebag” (1/22/09): Sam and Dean investigate a string of murders that happen as soon as an old magician survives a dangerous magic trick that should have killed him. It turns out the magician wasn’t responsible for any of the deaths. His friend actually was an immortal who found a real magic book. He was killing the other magicians with his magic in order to help his friend get his career back. The old magician eventually kills his friend in order to save Sam and Dean.
S4.E11 “Family Remains” (1/15/09): Sam and Dean investigate a house where a man is mysteriously killed in. When the new family arrives, Sam and Dean try to warn but they don’t listen. The killer reappears and at first it appears that she is a ghost but it turns out that she is actually a human being. It turns out that she was the previous owner’s granddaughter. The previous owner was the father of his old granddaughter and since he was ashamed he locked her in the basement and pretty much turned her into an animal. Sam and Dean eventually kill her after she kills one of the family members.
S4.E10 “Heaven and Hell” (11/20/08): Uriel and Castiel want to kill Anna because she is “worse than a demon.” Anna manages to transport the two angels away from the house. Sam and Dean move her to Bobby’s panic room because they figure the angels want her for more than just her ability to hear their conversations. The boys bring in psychic Pamela and she hypnotizes Anna. Anna eventually realizes that she is an angel. She disobeyed and fell to earth after losing her grace (her energy). Heaven wants her dead and hell wants to torture her. She needs her grace back to become an angel again but she has no idea where it is.
Sam, Dean, and Anna search for the grace a bit but come up empty. They bunker down but Anna overhears the angels talking about taking Dean back to hell if he won’t return her to them. Anna and Dean make love in the Impala. Ruby brings in Alastair and offers him the angel in return for Sam and Dean. He considers the offer then has his minions torture her. She eventually takes him to the location. Castiel and Uriel find the boys and Anna (Dean was basically forced to give up her location). Alastair and Ruby arrive and the two sides begin to fight. Anna grabs her grace (which Uriel had) and white light blasts from her. Alastair is shattered and Anna disappears.
Dean tells Sam about his experience in hell. He spent 40 Earth years there and eventually took a deal from Alastair to end his torture in exchange for him torturing other souls.
