S5.E13 “Stairway to Heaven” (1/22/09): The serial killer is saved and is executed at the prison. Bailey’s young patient is saved when a car crash victim becomes an organ donor. Izzie finally finds out that the reason she has been seeing Denny is because she is suffering from some illness. Christina decides to give Owen another chance. S5.E12 “Sympathy for the Devil” (1/15/09): The serial killer offers to give his organs to the young boy who needs a transplant. The serial killer even worsens his condition in order to be a candidate. Meanwhile the young boy gets a transplant but it doesn’t take. Derek’s mother comes to town and tells Derek that Meredith is the perfect woman for him. Owen and Christina decide to go out on a date but it is ruined when Owen shows up at Christina’s drunk. Izzie ends up “breaking up” with Denny. Eric’s Thoughts
S5.E11 “Wish You Were Here” (1/8/09): In the big case of the week, the Seattle Grace staff has to help save the life of a death row inmate after he is stabbed in prison. This case stirs up a lot of emotion in the hospital and leads towards an even bigger separation between Meredith and Christina. Bailey starts treating a young boy who end up having to get a transplant. George, Sloane and Callie work on a patient that has brittle bones due to a tumor. Izzie tells Alex about seeing Denny but he pretty much pushes it aside as nothing serious. Callie and Sloane try to make a pact not to sleep with anymore interns but both aren’t strong enough to resist. Eric’s Thoughts
S5.E10 “All By Myself” (12/4/08): All of the attendings pick Cristina to perform the first solo surgery but the Chief has disqualified her due to the intern scandal. She was given the task of picking her replacement and she eventually went with Alex. Lexie stripped in front of Mark, who couldn’t resist keeping their friendship platonic. Izzie continued her “fling” with Denny, even to the point of slacking on her hospital duties. Alex proclaimed his love for Izzie.
