This week Earl ends up helping Randy when he finds out that he was responsible for Randy not pursuing cheerleading in school even though he always wanted to do it. Earl and Randy end up going to a cheerleader camp so Randy can fulfill his dream. While at camp they join the Camden cheerleading squad which is a bunch of misfits. They struggle at first but Randy pulls them together and they actually become a threat to win the cheerleading competition. Kimmy (whose face was mauled by a badger) decides to kick Earl and Randy out of camp so her daughter can win. Earl won’t give up in helping Randy pursue his dream and ends up sleeping with Kimmy. Randy ends up being reinstated at the camp. When the day comes for the competition Randy is too afraid to perform without Earl so Earl is forced to perform despite all of Camden being there to make fun on him. Even though they don’t win the competition, Randy was able to fulfill his dream so Earl crosses him off the list.
While Earl and Randy are away at cheerleading camp, Joy realizes that one of her sons have taken a fancy for Catalina. Joy can’t let it go so she tries to get her son to think she is prettier than Catalina. I don’t know if it is just me but I think this is extremely creepy since I don’t know why a mother would like her son to be attracted to them. It turns out Joy actually only wants her sons to still need her. Darnell tells her that her sons will always need her.
Overall a very average episode of My Name is Earl. The episode really lacked humor in my opinion. Both storylines really lacked any humor in my opinion. My Name is Earl really needs to pick it up. I think My Name is Earl is starting to get old since the show hasn’t been able to show consistent humor since the first season.
One surprise in this episode was that Jenna Elfman was actually Kimmy. At first I didn’t even notice that it was her. I am also surprised that NBC didn’t promote it like crazy since they really love promoting their guest stars.
So what were your thoughts on We’ve Got Spirit? Did you think that Randy and Earl’s cheerleading was downright terrible just like me?
