Leverage Season One Finale Preview

Tonight the first part of the Leverage season finale airs on TNT (10/9C). Along with most of the season, TNT was nice enough to send The TV Legion a screener containing the final two episodes of the season. While it sucks that I now have no more episodes of Leverage left this season, I will tell every Leverage fan that the final two episodes of the season are both treats. If you are a Leverage fan or have never seen the show, tonight’s episode as well as next week’s episode are must watch episodes.

In tonight’s episode the team finally decides to help Nate get the revenge he needs against the insurance company that wouldn’t pay for his son’s operation. They decide to steal a piece of art from him (there is more to the case than that but I am not going to spoil things). Things get complicated though when some familiar faces show up and foil their original plan. Obviously things must not go exactly as planned since the case does last two episodes after all.

So why did I like the final two episodes of the season so much? The episodes do an amazing job showing off all the team members skills (Parker’s vault robbing skills are amazing by the way), and how far they have come this season. Every member of the team is utilized well in both episodes. Even though Nate is the central character of both episodes all the characters have their own moments in both episodes. The case is well crafted and you should be satisfied with the conclusion in next week’s episode.

While I am on the topic of conclusions, I have to address something about the endings to the final two episodes of the season. I am obviously not going to spoil the episode endings. Tonight’s ending has a much larger cliffhanger than the season finale and I thought it would have been a great season finale. I can see why Leverage took a more conservative season finale route since they didn’t know if the show would have gotten a second season. If the show wouldn’t have been renewed the season finale would have been a satisfying series finale. Since the show did get a second season though, the season finale doesn’t leave you with much of a cliffhanger. It’s not a bad season finale but it really isn’t a season finale that will make you anxious for the next season to begin.

With that said, this has been a great season of Leverage. For a show that I had absolutley no expectations for before it first aired, Leverage has easily been the biggest surprise of the season. Now I just wish I didn’t have to wait several more months for more new episodes. While it will be sad not having Leverage on Tuesday nights for a while, Leverage fans should be happy to enjoy two more great episodes before the show takes a break.
