Missed Last Night’s Episode?:
, TNT.com
Last night’s episode of Leverage showed once again why Leverage is the must see new show of 2008. This season has been pretty disappointing for television but Leverage is far from disappointing. After a brief hiccup in the third episode, Leverage once again had a great episode and cemented itself as the best new show of 2008. For those of you who haven’t seen Leverage or last night’s episode, be sure to get caught up since you are really missing out. For those of you who watched last night’s episode, let’s dicuss it after the break.
To get in the holiday mood, this week’s episode was a semi Christmas themed episode. This week the team helps save Nate’s friend’s church which in trouble when a businessman is trying to buy up the land and demolish the church. Obviously the Leverage team won’t let that happen though.
While some people probably don’t think too highly on the gang faking a miracle in order to save the church, I thought it was brilliant. As mentioned in the show, the ends justify the means. I am starting to wonder what Alec can’t do. First he is a compute matermind. Now he can recreate statues and make them cry? Obviously he is the brains behind the operation along with the source of most of the shows humor.
I thought this week’s plan was as brilliant as the other two. One thing I liked about this week’s plan is that it didn’t go as planned. This week’s plan wasn’t foolproof and I liked that the gang had to keep changing their plan until they finally nailed the businessman who for some reason thought Bibletopia was a good idea (I know I wouldn’t go to it).
One thing that I am really liking about Leverage is that while the emphasis is on the schemes, the show does a good job of also introducing us to the characters. While the character development isn’t a big part of each episode, the show does a good job of letting us know about the characters through brief flashbacks and the cases the team ends up picking. In a show like Leverage which is a more fast paced show I think this is perfect since the show isn’t slowed down by character development, but we also get to know the characters.
So what were your thoughts on last night’s Leverage? Do you agree with me that Leverage is the best new show of the season?
