While the title of the episode might describe House from time to time, Big Baby is a pretty fitting title for this week’s episode. With Cuddy home taking care of her baby, Cameron (who finally reemerged after pretty much going missing for most of the season) has to take care of House and make sure he doesn’t always get his way. Meanwhile House takes a case of a special ed teacher who starts coughing up blood.
This week’s case involved a special ed teacher who is brought into the hospital when she starts coughing up blood. In House’s typical fashion he disagrees with his colleagues. With Cuddy out of the way (staying at home to take care of her daughter) House decides to see how far he can push Cameron (who has taken charge of the hospital with Cuddy gone). In House’s typical fashion, he tries to play a game with Cameron. She seems to play along with House but is trying to play her own game with House. The team can’t find out what is wrong with the patient until House does an experimental procedure that involves removing the top of her skull. When House realizes that the patient seems to become less stressed when she should be more stressed he determines that a valve in her heart that should have closed after birth didn’t and it has been redirecting blood causing all her symptoms.
Overall I thought the case was actually pretty good. What was good about the case was the fact that Cameron finally got some screen time this season. I don’t know what has been up with House this season but I have no idea why the show has pretty much written off Cameron and Chase this season. Well it was good to see Cameron get some screen time this week. House and Cameron trying to trick the other into doing what they want was the highlight of the episode in my opinion. It’s too bad that Cameron won’t have that role at the hospital any longer. Hopefully the show can find more things for Cameron to do so she doesn’t disappear once again.
As I already mentioned, Cuddy took some time off of work in order to take care of her baby. Things don’t go well though and she seriously thinks about giving up the baby to another foster family since she can’t feel any connection to the baby. Wilson tries to get her to reconsider. Eventually Cuddy develops a connection with the baby and decides to keep it. Overall the Cuddy storyline was decent. While the storyline was pretty boring in my opinion, I think this week’s storyline with the baby could develop into a longer running storyline which might be more interesting. Also how could you not love it when the baby threw up on House?
Finally Foreman starts worrying about Thirteen being on the placebo. He asks all the other doctors (even House) what he should do and they all tell him that it would be a terrible idea to switch her off the placebo. Foreman doesn’t listen to their advice though and ends up giving Thirteen the test trial drug risking his future career as a doctor. I personally think this storyline is pretty stupid and unbelievable. I don’t know why Foreman would risk his career on Thirteen who he has known for about a year and has been dating for about a week.
Quotes:
House: “It brings out the blue in you briefing file.”
Kutner: “Your going to destroy her aren’t you.”
Thirteen: “Which of us shouldn’t have an opinion?”
Kutner: “That must be one hell of a happy place.”
Taub: “She obviously doesn’t need fake radiation.”
House: “People don’t die from peeing.”
House: “You can’t trust that Wilson guy with anything.”
House: “How much longer till the heart attack?”
House: “She obviously has brain damage.”
House: “I am the last person to go to for ethical advice.”
House: “Do I have to revoke Kutner’s phone privileges?”
House: “I am trying to explain you.”
Your Take: What were your thoughts on the episode? Do you like that Cameron is finally getting some airtime? Do you like Cuddy as a mother? So you buy Foreman risking his career to possibly save Thirteen?
