Story
High School Musical 2 continues where the last movie ended. This time the kids are on summer vacation. Troy, Gabriella, Chad and Taylor get jobs at Sharpay’s parent’s spa. Sharpay is also plotting her revenge as she tries to tear apart Troy and Gabriella so she can have Troy all to herself. As Troy gets a taste of the good life his friendships are put in danger. Is the gang going to get through this summer together?
If you didn’t already know I am a huge fans of musicals. Despite this fact I had never seen either High School Musical’s before receiving this DVD in the mail. I always wanted to watch them but I never had the time. I had heard that a lot of people enjoyed the movie so my expectations were pretty high for this movie. I thought the movie was pretty good but I still think it is overrated.
The main reason I probably didn’t enjoy the movie as much as some other people is that I am a little older than the target audience for this movie. This lead me to think that the movie was a little cheesy. While it didn’t ruin the movie I think it did hurt the movie at least a little.
Special Features
Since this is the third version of High School Musical 2 that has been released the special features are pretty important to justify buying another version of the movie. The good thing is if you really like the movie you are getting quite a few special features on this DVD. (I haven’t watched the other versions of this DVD so I don’t know which of these special features were present in the other two versions.) Here are the special features that you can expect in this DVD set:

If you are a fan of the movie I can’t imagine you not liking the special features. Also if you are planning on going to High School Musical Three you are saving some money on this DVD set since you will get one free admittance to the movie.
Final Thoughts
Overall I thought High School Musical 2 was a pretty good movie even though it is overrated in my opinion. I am a big fan of musicals but I just thought High School Musical 2 was a little too cheesy for adults. If you are a fan of the movie and either don’t have a copy or am interested in the new special features I would recommend that you pick up High School Musical 2 2-Disc Deluxe Dance Edition.
