Overall Dying of the Light was a pretty average Heroes episode in my opinion. I am glad that they rectified there clossal mistake with Hiro from last episode. Some storylines are really starting to get pretty boring though. First Mohinder’s storyline has already hit the bricks and needs to go. I never minded Mohinder but with this poor current storyline he needs to either be written or killed off. Matt also needs to actually be given a real storyline. I feel so sorry for Greg Grunberg since in three seasons of this show he has yet to have had a decent storyline. Unless they give him a good storyline quick they should let him go so he can actually get a good role on another show. That is enough of my rambling. I’ll leave the rest of my rambling to the individual storylines.
Matt and Daphne: Daphne continues her job of alerting all the people that the Pinehurst foundation wants. She meets Matt (and his turtle) at the airport. Matt creeps her out by knowing who she is. He tells her that they are meant to be together. Daphne tells him to wait in the airport while she finishes gathering the other group members. She eventually returns to the airport and tells Matt that he should stay away from the Pinehurst foundation since it is filled with a bunch of criminals. Matt tells her to stay away as well since the group will lead to her death. Daphne doesn’t listen though. As I already mentioned I really don’t like Matt’s storyline but I actually do like Daphne. It also appears that Daphne has a secret which could make things interesting.
Hiro and Ando: Thank goodness we find out that Hiro actually didn’t kill Ando. He actually used his powers to get a fake sword and then warn Ando on what he was going to do. After Daphne and Knox leave, Ando gets up unharmed. Hiro and Ando head for their first mission, to catch the African futureteller that Matt met with. Hiro tries to catch him but the man keeps knocking Hiro out with a shovel (even if he goes back in time). Hiro eventually doesn’t use his ability and is able to catch him. He congratulates Hiro and tells him that it was all a test to show him that he relied on his powers too much. The man then shows them a painting of all the head villains of the Pinehurst foundation. Hiro and Ando’s goal is to bring down all the villains. As I already mentioned I am glad with what Heroes did with Hiro’s storyline. It looks like he will finally be able to have a good storyline. It also seems like Hiro and Ando won’t turn on one another (or at least I hope so).
Claire, Sandra, and Meredith: Meredith continues to be manipulated by the puppetmaster (Eric Doyle). Claire and Sandra show up in order to save her but they are captured as well. Eric forces them to play a deadly game of Russain Roulette. Since they can’t control their own bodies they can’t control the game. When Sanda gets the gun she ends up unloading the whole gun in order to shoot Claire. Eric doesn’t know Claire has an ability so he thinks she is dead. Claire ends up knocking him out while he is occupied with something else. HRG shows up to take him away and he is proud that Claire was able to catch Eric. I have a feeling this storyline is going to end up with Claire and HRG working together in order to bring all the villains back in.
Mohinder, Tracy, and Nathan: Nathan and Tracy end up stopping by Mohinder’s. Mohinder drugs them and ties them up in order to do tests on them. When Tracy wakes up she tries to tell Mohinder that he can get help to get over his current condition. This is only a trick to get away. Tracy and Nathan end up escaping. As you probably already know, this is easily the worst storyline this season. This storyline shows that you can essentially take a storyline that has already been done (Promicin on 4400) and make it terrible even though the original storyline was actually very good. As I already mentioned, Mohinder needs to either be killed or written off since this storyline is going nowhere.
The Pinehurst Foundation: Knox takes Adam to Arthur Patrelli. We find out that Arthur has the ability to steal powers from other Heroes (very similar to Jordan Collier on The 4400 which all Heroes fans should check out). Since Adam has lived past his normal lifespan he immediately dies and turns into dust. Meanwhile Sylar and Peter find out that the Pinehurst Foundation is behind what happened to Angela. Sylar doesn’t want Peter to confront them but Peter knocks Sylar out so he is able to go. When Peter shows up at the foundation he is surprised to see his father who was supposedly dead. Arthur ends up stealing Peter’s powers. At this point this is actually turning into one of the best storylines of the season. Too bad most of the other storylines can’t follow suit.
So what are your thoughts on this episode? Which storylines are working for you and which ones need to be cut or improved quickly?
