Heroes S3.E5 Angels and Monsters (October 13th, 2008)

angels and monsters 201x300 Heroes S3.E5 Angels and Monsters (October 13th, 2008)

I was thinking that this could be a rebound season for Heroes but after last night’s episode I can honestly say that heroes will never regain it’s season one glory. I don’t know if it is just me but I thought yesterday’s episode was pretty poor and it was set up terribly. I will explain this further by addressing each storyline.

Angela, Nathan and Tracy: Nathan and Tracy debate their powers and how they got them. They end up meeting with Angela and she tells them that some of the current powerholders were actually injected with a formula in order to get their powers. Nathan and Tracy were two of these people. Nathan and Tracy decide to meet with Mohinder to try and see if their powers can be removed. Meanwhile Angela has a vision where Tracy, Nathan and Peter are all dead at the company’s headquarters. This is one of the storylines I actually didn’t mind. I think the idea that some of the heroes were injected to get their powers could lead to some interesting stories in the future. The episode did a poor job explaining that the Tracy, Nathan and Peter deaths were actually part of Angela’s vision (who knows I could even have interpreted that wrong).

Mohinder: Mohinder has officially become some kind of spider or lizard. He ends up killing people and putting them into webs on his walls. When Maya finds out, Mohinder webs her up along with the other people. I don’t know if it is just me but this storyline is just getting stupid in my opinion. I have never been a huge fan of Mohinder and I think they should have gotten rid of him a while ago. The one good thing to come out of this storyline is that the worthless Maya is finally gone.

Peter: After Peter returns to the present he attacks Sylar and Angela. Sylar’s ability is getting to him already. After he is subdued, Angela puts Peter into a coma in order to keep him from attacking anyone else.

Claire, HRG, and Sylar: Claire, HRG, and Sylar end up all hunting down the same villain. This vilain actually ahs the ability to open up black holes. Claire catches the man by surprise but he disarms her. He goes onto explain that he accidently killed a person and that he just wants to see his family and move on with his life. Claire helps him finds his family. HRG and Sylar show up and the man opens up a black hole in order to get away. Claire and HRG find him again. He is upset that his family wants nothing to do with him. HRG then tries to get him to suck Sylar into a black hole but he can’t do it. He ends up sucking himself into a black hole. A rift begins forming between Claire and HRG since Claire doesn’t approve of how HRG is handling people with abilities. I don’t know about where this story is headed. I personally will be disappointed if they both end up chosing different sides and become enemies.

The Puppetmaster: Meredith (Claire’s biological mother) ends up tracking down one of the escape villains. When she finds him things don’t go well since his ability takes control of her. His ability allows him to mind control other people. I don’t know if it is just me but I think they should have given this ability to one of the regular heroes. I think mindcontrol is a cool power and I would have liked to see how a character could have used it for good.

Hiro, Ando, Daphne, Adam, Knox, and Arthur: Hiro, Ando and Adam hunt down the formula. Hiro ends up getting knocked out and Adam gets away. He doesn’t get far since he is kidnapped by Knox. Meanwhile Hiro is approached by Daphne and Hiro ends up agreeing to join her group (I don’t know if I missed something but I want to know why Hiro all of a sudden decided to join her group). In order to prove his worth he ends up having to stab Ando. If Ando is killed or they end up fighting against one another I am officially done with Heroes. If Hiro is also made evil I will also quit watching the show. Hiro and Ando are easily my favorite characters. Hiro and Ando have had stupid storyline ever since season one but this story has to easily be the stupidest. After getting Hiro to join their group, Daphne meets with Linderman (I guess everyone can see him now). Linderman tells her that she also has to get Matt. Meanwhile we see Matt’s father meeting with Arthur Patrella. It turns out that they are behind Daphne’s group as they are building an army (they are also using Adam in order to save Arthur). I really don’t mind this storyline except for the fact that it will pretty much make either Hiro or Ando evil. I don’t know why shows can’t just keep friends, friends. I can’t believe two best friends would ever turn on one another.
