Heroes S3.E14 A Clear and Present Danger:

For the past two chapters (season two and the first half of season three) I have been far from the biggest Heroes fan. The first season of Heroes was great. It was one of the best shows of that season. The show has disappointed ever since the first season though. With stupid storylines and the fact that even if you died you really didn’t die, Heroes has been astray for quite some time now. When things encouragingly got better for an episode or two, things immediately fell apart again. So with the fourth chapter Fugitives starting last night I have to say that I am cautiously optimistic about the fourth chapter. While Heroes still has a ways to go to redeem itself, last night’s episode was the first step in the right direction.
So as the title of the chapter states, all the Heroes except for Nathan (who betrayed the rest of the Heroes in the last episode) become fugitives. In order to hide from Nathan’s silent ninja capturing squad, they all try to get on with their lives and for the first time in a very very long time, most of them actually get jobs. (Welcome back to being regular citizens again.) I guess the Heroes ran out of money in this bad economy and finally realized that they actually needed a job. Claire is staying with Angela trying to pick a college to attend. Peter is back to being a paramedic. Hiro tries to get Ando to be a hero but he would rather pick up women at the strip clubs. Tracy is pretty much doing nothing like usual. Mohinder decides to be a cab driver so he can conveniently replay a scene from the first season with Peter. Matt and Daphne are together but their relationship is strained since Daphne doesn’t stop using her powers. Finally Sylar (who unsurprisingly isn’t dead) starts searching for his long lost father.
So everyone appears to be getting on with their lives until Nathan’s secret agency captures them all and boards them all onto a plane. Thanks to Claire’s help they end up breaking out of custody but a hole is punctured in the plane so the plane crashes. Before the plane crashes, Claire finds out that HRG is working for Nathan’s organization.
Despite the fact that I think Heroes is trying to ripoff Lost with the plane crash, as I have already mentioned this episode was actually quite good. I think the secret agency is interesting and I really like Zeljko Ivanek as the leader of the group. I think he should bring a pretty interesting character to the show. Nathan also makes a pretty good villain (hopefully his stint on the show is over after this season though). I am also interested in finding out why HRG is working with Nathan.
The one concern I have though is that I don’t know exactly where the series is going with the storyline. Hopefully it won’t just become Prison Breaks Heroes edition. Heroes better have a good plan for the rest of the season instead of appearing to just piece a bunch of things together like they have done the past two chapters. If they can continue to find unique story ideas for this chapter, I think this chapter could really bring Heroes back to it’s former glory.
Quotes:
Heroes Commercial: “Save the taxpayer. Save the World.”
Ando (about Hiro’s proposed costume): “I wouldn’t be caught dead in this.”
Ando (to Hiro): “Get yourself another hero.”
Your Take: Do you think Heroes is finally turning the corner? Are you excited about this season’s storyline?

I am not all that excited about this episode nor likely any of the future episodes if the last year and a half is representative of the crappy patchwork storyline we will have to endure every Monday until they kill this show.
Once again - stupid antics by Hero and his sidekick Ando. Predictable and boring crap for the Speedster and Parkman (how convenient that he can now paint the future!) I mean can you even compare this to the first season wand the PreCog with the drug habbit…….!!! Talk about original and gritty! What a shame it has come to this.
Then there is Mohinder - a University Professor - driving cab - instead of applying his intellect to something more believable - yeah right….who came up with this believable one? Fire his ass!
And Claire’s over-dramatizing, over-acting, angry speach affectation…..LOOSE IT OR JUST SOMEONE STAB HER IN THE BACK OF THE NECK AND END THIS TRAGEDY.
Finally - and this is the icing on the cake: have they forgotten that Peter can stop time? Why on earth who he not just freeze time while on the plane - instead of engaging in hand-to-hand combat????? Anyone? Anyone? Bueler…Bueler?
This dude has MASS powers, yet he seems to conveniently forget which ones to use……it’s only been three seasons - you would think he would have mastered that by now.
Also -does anyone wonder where that Irish chick he was in love with is - since he left here stuck in a future that never happened back in season two!
I pray they fix this in a serious way. I was one of their biggest fans, and quite frankly, it is only hope and mild curiousity that makes me even tune in!
To kingsol:
I agree with you on most points. But for Peter. He has lost his powers in season 2 when his father took them away but did not kill him.
If you remember Season 1. Peter’s origianl powers is to asorb other peoples powers and keep them (reference to this later).
When he got back his power by injecting the formula to himself he regain his original power(or so I thought). Since Nathan was in the room at the time, he asorbed his flying ability and flew.
Now that he is captured and in the plane, he asorbed Suresh’s ability to have super strength, and fought the guys. He could not stop time because he and hiro lost there power to His father. remember??
My question was why he did fly out of the plane..This was answered in E2 when we learnt that he now can only have one power at a time. Which sucks.
heroes evolved around Peter and Sylar discovering there abilities in S1. It took sylar almost instantly to use his abilities but Perter a whole season. Now Peter lost all is powers. Boring if you ask me.
I would like to see more action between two powerful characters, preferbly Peter and Sylar. But now that peter sucks..it wont happen.
He would eventually regain is true ability as we know this from the future Peter. I am yet to see how he got the scar accross his face. I believe he had a dual with Hiro in the future.
As for his Irsh chick..Dont know what happened to her..
But I am a bit disappointed where this Season is heading. But just got to waint and see. The story is unfolding to slow and to boring now. I think the need to get more action in for that 1 hr. Some pointless scenes..
S1 was indeed the best because ppl could relate to the actors and situations. the new ones, ppl just act stupid and clueless..and do things that just dont make sense. Have you askin why? As if blondes are writing the scripts..
For the most part, I am interested to see where this goes.
