Missed Last Night’s Episode?:Heroes - Heroes, Season 3 - Dual, hulu3 Heroes S3.E13 Dual, Amazon Heroes S3.E13 Dual

Regular readers of the TV Legion will probably be shocked to hear me say this but for the first time this season I have to say that this was a great episode of Heroes. Season two and season three so far have not been kind to Heroes especially since the show was becoming a joke of itself. I have always liked Heroes and I think I will be enjoying Heroes a lot more very soon. For those of you who haven’t seen the episode yet I won’t spoil you to what happened in last night’s episode which is making me excited about the next chapter. For those of you who have seen last night’s episode, continue past the jump in order to see what has made me a believer in Heroes again.

So what could make me change my opinion on this season of Heroes. Well it doesn’t hurt when last night’s episode of Heroes was probably the best episode of Heroes since season one. I almost agree with everything that happened (more on that later) and the next chapter looks like it could be the rebound step that the show drastically needs.

We’ll begin with Sylar and his torture house (the company headquarters). Last night’s episode showed why Sylar should never be turned good ever again. I thought the show could make him good, but I was wrong. Sylar is a villain and will always be one. He is his best when he is evil and sinister. It’s just so great to see him back to his old self. Meanwhile the story itself was good and actually pretty suspenseful since I thought HRG could actually be killed off. It turns out that only a couple of villains and Claire’s biological mother died. I can’t disagree with this move since the show really needed to kill off some supporting characters since there were way too many of them. Sylar was “killed” but I don’t think that will last long especially since Sylar’s father (played by John Glover from Smallville) makes an appearance next season.

We move onto the formula which was a complete ripoff of promicin from The 4400. I am so glad that it appears to be destroyed for good. After watching The 4400 there was no way I could enjoy the storyline since it was such a complete ripoff of The 4400. The formula being destroyed also took out a couple more supporting characters which is also a good idea. Finally I like that Peter either got his ability back or got a new one. Peter was pretty pointless and worthless without his abilities.

Next comes Hiro, Ando, Daphne, and Matt. While I was skeptical of Ando getting an ability I have to admit that I know love the idea. While his ability of supercharging other abilities is pretty simple, I love the power and I think it is one of the best of the entire cast. Hiro was saved just in time because his father was about to kill him in the past. I want to know how Hiro really thought he could stop a sword with a piece of bread. I also like that Hiro doesn’t currently have his ability at this time because I was kind of getting sick of the time traveling. Hopefully Heroes give Hiro a different ability.

It’s about time I address what I didn’t like about the episode. While there was quite a bit of bloodshed, I was actually hoping for more. I am not a morbid person but Heroes cast really needs to be trimmed. First Mohinder needs to be killed off since his character has become a joke. Tracy could also go especially since they should never have brought Ali Larter back after last season. Finally I think Nathan needs to be killed off after the season. I am sick of his storylines of him becoming the president in the future and yet it never actually happens.

With that said though I really liked the twist at the end of the episode where Nathan betrayed all the other people with abilities and was given the task of tracking down all the heroes and capturing them. I think this storyline could really bring the show around especially if it is done correctly.

While we won’t have another episode of Heroes until 2009, after last night’s episode I have to admit that I am anticipating the return much more than I was before last night’s episode.

So what are your thoughts on last night’s episode? Do you agree with me that Heroes appears to be turning things around or do you think the show is still in trouble?
