the flood 300x168 Greys Anatomy S5.E3 Here Comes the Flood (October 9th, 2008)
Last night’s episode showed that Seattle Grace has got to be the most messed up hospital ever imanginable. In just about two years the hospital has only had to deal with a flood, a bomb explosion, and an ambulance crashing in the parking lot. I honestly don’t know how Seattle Grace is still allowed to practice medicine with all the problems they have been having. While one of these disasters might happen like once every couple decades, All of this has happened in just two short years. Either Seattle Grace is cursed or it is stuck in tv land where a bunch of unbelievable things happen just to try and make the show more interesting.

As you can probably tell, I didn’t think that much of the “flooding”. I personally thought it was pretty stupid as a matter of fact. I really think Grey’s Anatomy needs to stop it with these gimics since they are seriously getting rediculous. Why can’t the show just focus on being a character drama set in a hospital. I personally didn’t have a problem with the bomb episode but I am really starting to get sick and tired of these stupid little ploys to drum up the excitement value of the show. I am not watching Grey’s Anatomy for these reasons.

Hopefully Grey’s Anatomy just gets back to being a character drama because that is what it truly is. Do you agree or disagree with me? Leave your thoughts in the comment section.

For those of you who missed the episode here is what you missed:

  • The Meredith and Derek relationship continues to have problems. Derek moves in with Meredith and expects Izzie and Alex to move out. Neither want to move out. Eventually Meredith gets Derek to let them stay at the house.
  • The chief institutes a new policy in order to improve the hospital. While the changes seem to make a difference they are overshadowed by the flood that fills the hospital after a pipe in the hospital bursts.
  • One of the patients include an elderly man that has had constant pain in his head for over 7 years. Lexie shows off her photographic memory by helping the doctors determine that he just has an inflamed nerve in his nose. Lexie is allowed to scrub in on the surgery but instead gives it up to help George with his intern exam.
  • George eventually retakes his intern exam despite being interrupted several times by the flood.
  • Meredith works on a patient that has colon cancer. Her sister won’t stop talking about the disease so the woman has Meredith talk about her life in order to keep her mind off her cancer. It turns out that the doctors can’t help the woman though since her cancer has progressed to far.
  • Alex works on a patient that has the worst luck in the world. He slips in the hospital. While getting tests the machine shorts out. Alex cheers him up that his luck will eventually change. It turns out in surgery the roof of the operating room collapses on him. This is actually a good thing since it helps the doctors find and treat some cancer on him that they would never have found if the roof didn’t collapse.
