About two years ago when Greek premiered I have to admit that I wasn’t much of a fan. I thought the pilot was pretty bad and the next couple of episodes didn’t help things. Things started to change around midway through the first season though and Greek actually became a pretty good show. Chapters one and two comprised the first season so chapter three begins season two. While Greek is still not a great show, it is an above average show for college and high school students and even some adults.

For those of you who have never seen Greek before it follows a group of college students. The show mostly focuses on the Greek system as well as the characters struggles with relationships and daily life. Season two continues where season one left off where Rusty gets more adjusted to college life while Casey tries to handle running the ZBZ and her personal life at the same time.

As I already mentioned I wasn’t a huge fan of Greek from its beginnings. The show was just not that polished and I really didn’t care too much for any of the characters. Over time the characters grew as well as the show as a whole. While I am still not a huge fan I have grown to appreciate the show for what it is. It’s kind of a quirky character drama that addresses the issues of college students. Being a college student myself I can appreciate that even though I still don’t think the show is very realistic.

Overall Chapter Three is the best chapter released so far. Season two continued to improve on the first season. If you enjoyed the first season I can’t imagine you not liking the second season. If you haven’t seen the show before I would recommend picking up chapter one and giving the show some time since it does start off pretty slowly. If you are a fan of high school/college character dramas I think you should enjoy Greek.

For people that were trying to get caught up in order to watch the most recent episodes you are going to be disappointed since Greek has somehow fallen behind on releasing their DVD sets. I don’t know how but Greek is a chapter behind since the end of season two has still not been released and season three just started last week. So if you think purchasing this chapter will catch you up to the live airings you will be disappointed. Hopefully Greek will eventually catch up and when they do I hope they just release season three as a complete season since I have always hated volume/chapter sets that don’t contain a full season.

As far as special features are concerned I don’t think fans will be disappointed but more could have also been provided. There are only 10 episodes in this DVD collection so I would still expect more than three special features. Add in the fact that none of them are that great and fans should have gotten more. The special features are pretty similar to other seasons though so fans should know what to expect in chapter three. A more detailed look at the special features follows:

  • Commentaries: You get three commentaries in this DVD set. You get commentaries on “Brothers and Sisters” (Season Two Episode 1), “The Popular Vote” (Season Two Episode 8), and “Hell Week” (Season Two Episode 10). Overall the commentaries are pretty good but I am not much of a fan of commentaries in the first place.
  • 20 Questions With the Cast of Greek-A 16 minute question and answer session. I found this feature to be kind of boring especially since very few of the questions were actually about the show itself. Most were about the actors and I really don’t care about such questions as what is your favorite food.
  • Bloopers-Your typical 3 minute blooper reel.

Overall Greek is a pretty good show but I wouldn’t consider it to be a great show. The show is consistent and has improved quite a bit from its first couple of episodes of season one. If you like the series and would like to re watch the episodes, Greek Chapter Three is a good purchase. If you are trying to get caught up on Greek Chapter Three is also a very solid purchase but at this point you will have to watch the rest of season two somewhere else.
