It’s college acceptance time in the Upper East Side. While the whole gang awaits their future college plans, there is plenty going on in the meantime. Blair starts a war against a teacher. Dan and Serena discuss their relationship now that their parents are back together. Finally Chuck and Lily come up with a plan to finally regain control of Bass Enterprises.

Blair’s War: When Yale admissions are given out, Blair is furious when she is put on the wait list. She complains to the headmistress in her normal fashion. Serena eventually gives up her spot so Blair can get into Yale but Blair is too busy fighting with a teacher (Rachel) to barely even notice. When she doesn’t get an A on a paper she decides to declare war on Rachel. She ends up pulling a prank on Rachel which Rachel reports to the headmistress. Word gets out and Blair loses her spot at Yale and has to earn it back. Instead of learning a lesson, Blair decides to make things worse by deciding to continue the fighting with Rachel.

I thought the story was pretty interesting. It’s always great to see when not everything goes Blair’s way. I have to say that Blair is an idiot though. Why in the world would you put your spot at Yale on the line in order to act on a grudge you have with a teacher. That is just stupid in my opinion.

As far as the new character Rachel, I think the character is pretty interesting even though I don’t know if I like what the show is doing with her. Obviously there will be the fighting between her and Blair but I got the hint that she is going to end up hooking up with Dan as well. While I think it would be creepy, knowing Gossip Girl I wouldn’t be shocked if it did happen.

Chuck and Lily Take Control of Bass Enterprises: Chuck is sick and tired of Jack running the company. He ends up turning to Lily for some help getting rid of Jack. While Chuck comes up with a lot of illegal ideas of getting rid of Jack (including one that involves murder), Lily actually comes up with a much better idea. Before Bart died they were actually planning on adopting one another’s children in order to truly make them a family. Since Chuck’s legal guardian gets to control the company, Chuck agrees to let Lily adopt him and Lily is put in charge of Bass Enterprises. This doesn’t please Jack so he assaults Lily until Chuck knocks him out to save the day. Back at the house Lily informs Chuck that she will run the company until he is 18 and when he turns 18 he will be given control of the company and will also get Lily’s shares of the company. Chuck decides to finally be a part of Lily’s family and ends up moving back in with them.

While I doubt the show will actually chose this storyline, I hope the show begins a storyline as Chuck starts preparing to take over the business. While Chuck has always had his troubles, I think the show would be wise to finally let him learn some responsibility as he prepares to take over the company. I am guessing a lot of people disagree with me though.

Dan and Serena’s Relationship: With Lily and Rufus back together, Dan and Serena’s relationship appears to be in trouble once again. This is why I wonder why the show keeps bringing them back together. They are only going to break them up a couple weeks later anyway. While they haven’t broke up it appears that it is just a matter of time until it happens. Maybe this time the show will finally keep them apart.

Nate and Vanessa: Nate seems to have come out of hiding since for once in quite a while he actually got a storyline this week. It was nothing special though as it was pretty much Nate and Vanessa going to the opera and Nate showing off all the money he has.

Quotes:

Rufus: “I was planning on sneaking out before anyone got up.”

Erik: “I would say get a room but your’s is just above mine.”

Chuck: “The black market isn’t what it used to be.”

Dan (seeing Rufus and Lily kiss): “Oh, oh God. Where are the boxes with lids?”

Your Take: What’s your thoughts on the episode? Do you like the future catfight between Blair and Rachel? Do you like the idea of Rachel and Dan hooking up? Would you embrace a softer Chuck Bass?
