The TV Legion recently received a screener for the second season of Gossip Girl and I am here to give you the scoop on the latest season. You can actually see the press kit above. Doesn’t that pie look delicious by the way. Spoiler alert the pie is very important to this season of Gossip Girl. I am guessing you don’t believe me. Ok I actually have no idea why Chuck is holding a piece of pie since no pie whatsoever makes an appearance in the first three episodes. Before I begin I need to tell you that there will be a couple spoilers in this preview. Nothing big though since I could get in a lot of trouble if I reveal too much. If you are one of those people who can’t hear any spoilers (even if they are really minor) I would recommend that you stop reading right now since this is my final warning. If you read this preview and have any questions (as long as it is not whether you can have our press kit since your answer will be no) you can ask them in the comments section. I can’t guarantee being able to answer them though since as a stipulation of getting the press kit I am not allowed to reveal to much about the new season plus I don’t want to ruin things for people that don’t want to know much about the new season.
The last season of Gossip Girl ended Lily and Bart’s wedding. Serena and Dan broke up after Dan couldn’t trust Serena anymore. Chuck had invited Blair to spend the summer with him in Europe but then backed out at the last moment since he couldn’t committ to just one woman. Nate and his family dealt with his father skipping town. Jenny got an internship with Elenore. Finally Rufus went on tour with his band.
So unto the second season. The second season actually begins right where the last season ended. It is a couple weeks later and we get to see what the cast has been doing over the summer (actually the first three episodes all take place in the summer before school starts up again). Jenny has her internship to deal with. Rufus is finishing off his tour. Blair returns home after her trip in Europe. This makes Chuck have to deal with his decision at the end of last season. Serena and Dan are getting over their breakup. Nate is dealing with his families issues while also balancing something else which I am not supposed to reveal to you. Vanessa also returns (don’t know as a regular or recurring at this point) and has her own storyline which I am not going to tell you about.
Finally there are two new characters that have already shaken up things in just three episodes. I have been specifically told not to say a whole lot about the new characters. I can tell you that one of them is a man and one of them is a woman. One of them is around the age of the rest of the cast while the other is actually quite a bit older. At this point I couldn’t tell you whether these new characters are regulars, recurring or just guest stars. I can tell you that they are both in the first three episodes of the season and they could both stick on the show either for part of the season, most of the season, or could be staying around for a lot longer. I know this isn’t much to go on but I didn’t really want to spoil anything. Overall I think both will be very interesting additions. Both have a story set up with one of the main cast and both stories could be very interesting despite the fact that one of them is a little creepy/wierd (I can’t say anymore than that about the storyline).
Overall I think the season is promising. The first three episodes were on par with the first season. The characters could be making some pretty big changes this season though if some of the stories from the first three episodes continue to develop how I think they will. If any of you are interested I can give you the names of the first three episodes of the new season. The episodes are as follows: “Summer, Kind of Wonderful”, “Never Been Marcused”, and “The Dark Night” (no it is not a homage to the Batman movie despite the similar title). I think Gossip Girl fans could have a lot to look forward to this season.
If you liked the first season of Gossip Girl I think you should enjoy the second season as well. The second season has the makings of having some juicy stories that Gossip Girl would love to get her hands on. If you are ready for some more Gossip Girl you can check out the begining of the second season on Monday, September 1st at 9/8 C on the CW.
