Friday Night Light’s second episode of the third season aired last night on NBC. While the episode was pretty good, it doesn’t look to good for a fourth season of Friday Night Lights. Friday Night Lights didn’t do that great for it’s third season premiere, and last night’s ratings were even worse. Friday Night Lights fans should brace for the worst since these are probably all the episodes you are going to get. Unless Direct TV foots most of the bill or Friday Night Lights makes a ton of money with online episode purchases, I can’t imagine the show being renewed for a fourth season with the ratings it is currently getting. It’s too bad since this season is shaping up to be a pretty good season.
Riggins’ Big Brake: Tim starts getting some interest from different colleges in order to join their football programs the next season. Tim doesn’t really care but Lyla wants him to pursue the colleges in order to better his life. When Buddy’s friend, who has pull with one of the colleges in question, come to town Lyla forces Tim to have dinner with him. Before the diner Buddy pretty much tells Tim not to make a fool out of himself and that he will never be good enough for Lyla. Tim ends up blowing the entire diner pretty much killing his chances of getting into the college.
I honestly don’t know why Friday Night Lights seriously keeps trying this same storyline every season. Every season they try to reform Tim and make him a better person. I don’t mind the storyline but I would like it if the show actually did something with it. Why can’t they finally let him turn his life around? It’s not like they have hinted about it enough.
Matt’s Emancipation: When Matt’s Grandma is brought to the hospital for not taking her pills, Matt is put into a situation where he faces the posibility of putting his Grandmother into a nursing home. His one option of avoiding that is to get emancipated and then becoming his Grandmother’s guardian. Matt struggles with the decision but eventually meets with his mother (who must have left him and his father when he was young) and gets her to sign the emancipation papers. When Matt returns home he runs into Julie and offers to give her a ride home. Maybe I am drawing conclusions too quickly but I think Matt and Julie are going to get back together (or at least be friends). All I can say is that I am happy with the decision if my suspicions are true. I always liked Matt and Julie together and I honestly think them being seperated hurt season two.
Smash’s Comeback: Smash continues trying to get back his speed. While practicing he is too afraid of getting hit since he thinks he is going to injure his leg again. Coach Taylor decides to let Smash practice with the rest of the team and he finally gets over his fear of getting hurt again. Coach Taylor also gets him a walk-on tryout with a college. When Friday Night Lights first began I wasn’t that big of fan of Smash Williams. I have to admit that the character has grown on me though. I am just wondering what they can do with this storyline the rest of the season.
Tami’s Push For Academics: In a continuation fo the story from last week, everyone in town essentially shuns Tami for using the money that was supposed to go for a scoreboard to help the school itself out. I don’t know if it is just me but I am totally in Tami’s corner on this. I honestly think it is rediculous how much money some schools (high school and college) spend on sports. I have nothing against sports (I am actually a huge sports fan). It’s like they forgot that schools’ main purpose is too teach people. It’s not to play sports. Yeah I don’t think the Dillon Panthers need a shiny new scoreboard when their school is going down the tubes. Which is going to help more lives? A pretty worthless scoreboard or a quality education that could help people’s lives? I personally think the answer is pretty clear.
Tyra’s Run for School President: In order to make her college applications more attractive, Tyra runs for school president. When her competition starts running a smear campaign, Tyra decides to fight back. She actually uses some of the pole dancers from her mother’s club in order to drum up publicity. She almost gets kicked out of school because of it. Then for her final speech to the students, she focusses on how much better her prom will be instead of focussing on what she is actually going to do for the students. Tyra ends up winning the election but the actions she used to win disappoint Tami since she expected more out of her. Overall this storyline is pretty decent in my opinion. I have never been a huge Tyra fan so that might be part of the reason that I only think it is an average storyline.
Quotes:
Tami: “They were threatening me like it was the mob.”
Tim: “I’m not retarded. I can Google.”
Lyla: “Where are your pants?”
Matt (about being emancipated): “It just means I get to take care of old people.”
Your Thoughts: So what are your thoughts on this probably being the final season of Friday Night Lights? How do you like how season three is shaping up? (If you have already seen the season on Direct TV, I and a lot of other people would appreciate it if you don’t reveal any spoilers about the rest of the season.)

My family all love “Friday Night Lights” It is the one show we won’t miss. On DirecTV, on NBC and on DVD. We are avid fans and are hoping it goes on for a 4th season. I am a long-time fan of Kyle Chandler. He is the best.
Thanks,

I’ve been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.
