Three episodes down and things aren’t looking good for Dollhouse. While the show has gotten better since the first episode, last night’s episode was a set back. That is not nearly as bad as the fact that Dollhouse’s ratings haven’t been any better. While Dollhouse has actually done a pretty good job holding it’s audience the last two weeks, it didn’t have much of an audience to begin with.

Getting steady ratings isn’t bad but if Dollhouse wants to get another season it will have to get more viewers one way or another. While I am guessing that Fox will give Dollhouse the season to try and improve their ratings (they already said they were going to); something unexpected will have to happen for Dollhouse to get a second season.

It’s too bad really since I think Dollhouse could be a very good show if it was just given the chance to grow. While this week’s episode was a little step backward, some things are really starting to shape up for the show. The character’s personalities are starting to develop and we are starting to find out some interesting things about the Dollhouse. Hopefully Whedon has learned from the past and developed a satisfying series finale for Dollhouse since Dollhouse’s days are numbered.

As far as this week’s episode, Echo’s assignment was pretty boring overall. Not being a huge fan of music myself I really didn’t care for the musician bodyguard storyline. The storyline was a little weak but it did bring up some interesting things that could be interesting in upcoming episodes. It appears that Echo is willing to think outside the box in order to complete her assignments. I wonder if this is how Alpha started thinking for himself and eventually lead to his “escape”.

Another thing that stood out was that Echo and Sierra appeared to recognize each other after their mind wipes. Unless I am drawing too much out of facial expressions it appears that both are trying to hide the fact that they both remember things from their latest case.

Finally Agent Ballard’s quest to find the Dollhouse took an interesting turn. Lubov (the Russian) that Agent Ballard has been using to try and find the Dollhouse, just so happens to be an active. This leads me to two conclusions. Obviously the Dollhouse knows about Agent Ballard’s investigation and are using Lubov to turn him in the wrong direction. Second it appears that there must be more to Agent Ballard trying to find the Dollhouse. My guess is that he is Alpha especially after he was able to fight off all the gangsters that tried to kill him. I don’t think a normal FBI agent would be able to do that.

Hopefully Dollhouse can continue to develop so we can at least have a satisfying conclusion to Whedon’s latest show.
