Just three months after season 10 was released on DVD, Warner Bros. is back with another installment of “Dallas.” While the eleventh season still has all the drama of the first ten, the show starts to get a bit repetitive and old in this season. Hardcore “Dallas” fans will still probably want to pick the season up but if you don’t have to have every season of the shows you love, this might be the first season you can skip without really missing anything great.

Since this is the eleventh season of the show, I’m not going to explain what “Dallas” is all about. Most of you have probably watched the first ten seasons anyway and if you haven’t, you should probably stop reading this review and pick up those seasons first. It is one of the premiere primetime soaps and would make a great blind buy for all fans of the genre.

The eleventh season of “Dallas” is still a lot better than most shows but no show can stay on the top of its game forever. This is the season where “Dallas” started to drop in quality mainly because the show got old. Some of the stories get a bit ridiculous in season eleven but after over 250 episodes, that’s to be expected. The season is definitely still tolerable and if you love the series you can get some enjoyment out of the 30 episodes in this collection but it pales in comparison to the past ten seasons.

Even though this season wasn’t the best thing ever, the DVD set could have been a bit better. The season is compressed onto three double-sided discs which means the series doesn’t look very good at all. The transfers are pretty poor and filled with dirt, scratches, and other artifacts. The audio is very basic but at least the dialogue can be heard loud and clear. There are once again no extras but “Dallas” fans have probably already come to expect that.

Unless you are a huge fan of “Dallas” or a collector that needs to have every season of the shows you collect, I would probably just rent this season. It isn’t unwatchable by any means, it just can’t compare to the rest of the seasons.
