Last night Brothers and Sisters began it’s third season. After a lackluster second season (at least in my opinion) I thought the show had a little rebound in the season premiere. While I still think the show could use some work it is good that the show is trying to add a little more humor to the show since I thought the show was being a little too depressing last season.
Easily the funniest moment of the episode was Nora’s letter about the Walker’s for an adoption mother to give her child to Kitty. It was so hilarious because Nora painted her family as perfect even though nothing with the Walker’s is even close to normal. These are the moments that I am referring to when I say the show needs to add more humor to the show. The rest of the episode was broken into four storylines.
First their was Kitty’s storyline that featured the afformentioned letter. Kitty gets into a huge fight with Sara after she doesn’t even have enough time to write a letter to help her chances of adoption. They get into a big fight and Kitty doesn’t think she could ever trust Sara again. Sara eventually gets around to writing the letter and this helps Kitty forgive her a little but she still holds a grudge.
The second storyline was between Justin and Rebeca. They have been seeing each other since they found out that they aren’t related. I don’t know if it is just me but I actually like the relationship. While it has the creepiness factor of them once thinking they were siblings, I still like the realtionship. Justin eventually tells the rest of the family which doesn’t please Rebeca since she is afraid if something happens between the two of them that the Walkers will essentially abandon her. Justin convinces her that they need to just see where things go since they will never know what could have been if they didn’t.
The third storyline follows Kevin. Things are going well at work so he gets the keys to his bosses home for the weekend (see picture above). Meanwhile Holly and Tommy decide to fire Kevin’s law firm since they need to make budget cuts in order to survive. Nora and Sara try to talk Tommy out of it but he eventually fires Kevin. He tries to explain it to Kevin as a business decision but Kevin refuses to listen to him. Despite trashing the house and losing a client Kevin hasn’t been fired from his job yet.
The final storyline focussed on Ryan Walker. Kevin speaks with one of William’s old friends and finds out more about Ryan including a phone number. Kevin, Sara, and Nora decide to keep Ryan quiet but everyone eventually finds out since they obviously can’t keep a secret. The family gets into a fight about the whole situation and they can’t decide on what to do.
So what did you think of the third season premiere of Brothers and Sisters? Do you like where the third season is going or do you think the show needs some new storylines? Feel free to leave your thoughts by leaving a comment.
