Army Wives S2.E16 Transitions (October 12th, 2008)

armywifes4 300x97 Army Wives S2.E16 Transitions (October 12th, 2008)

In this week’s episode there were five storylines. The storylines were as follows:

  • Emmalin’s pen pal returns to the base after his tour of duty. They quickly become friends which doesn’t please Claudia Joy since he is a couple years older than Emmalin. Claudia Joy tries to stop Emmalin from seeing him but Emmalin continues to see him. I don’t think this is a bad storyline but it has been done so many times in the past so they will have to differentiate themselves in some way.
  • Lucas’ birthday is approaching and Chase is happy that he will finally be able to celebrate a birthday with one of his kids. He is suddenly called off to a mission and he is going to miss his birthday. This upsets Lucas since he is sick of his father missing every birthday. Pamela ends up still throwing him a party and Chase’s mission ends up being canceled so he makes the party. A solid one episode storyline in my opinion.
  • Roland’s mother is leaving town so Roland and Joan have to look for a nanny. When they can’t find a suitable nanny Roland decides to become a stay at home father. I think Roland becoming a stay at home dad could be an interesting storyline for a couple episodes but the show will have to come up with some other storylines to go along with it since I don’t think it will be that interesting to see him just take care of his daughter.
  • Trevor and Roxie contemplate what they will do if Trevor’s soldier doesn’t improve and he is discharged from the army. Trevor wants to move across the country but Roxie wants to stay near the base. Trevor eventually decides that he will become a civilian soldier if he isn’t able to serve as a soldier. I don’t know if this is just me but I think this storyline is leading to Trevor becoming a civilian soldier. If Trevor were to return to being a soldier I can’t imagine the show keeping him as a regular and I think the show wants to keep him as a regular.
  • Denise meets an army wife of a recently injured soldier. Denise realizes that wives of injured soldiers need a program to help them adjust to life without the army. Denise ends up starting a group that gives training and help to wives that are dealing with soon to be discharged soldiers. I am guessing this is only a one episode storyline. If not if actually gives Denise a storyline that doesn’t focus on her troubled marriage and I think that is a good idea.

So what are your thoughts on this episode? Did you like the storylines or did you find them to be a little dull? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
