After months of auditions and eliminations it’s the fourth season finale on America’s Got Talent. Only one out of the first three finals actually was satisfying so I wasn’t expecting much out of tonight’s finale and boy was I not disappointed. After the break find out who won and why I thought this was the worst finale in America’s Got Talent history.
After over an hour and a half of filler, here are the results of the final vote:
#10-6 (places weren’t specifically announced): Hairo Torres, Lawrence Beaman, The Fab Five, Drew Stevyns, Grandma Lee-Only two of the bottom five surprised me at all (Lawrence Beaman, and Grandma Lee). I am guessing that Lawrence Beaman didn’t make the top five since he split votes with Barbara Padilla. I thought Grandma Lee was going to be the non-singing act to make the top five but I guess America agreed with me that she wasn’t funny enough to win the competition. It was also not much of a surprise that once again my favorite act in the finals (Hairo Torres) didn’t win since Terry Fator is my only favorite finals act that has actually won his season.
#5 The Voices of Glory-Not much of a shocker. I thought they were only going to make it into the middle of the pack. The sister especially has a bright future.
#4 The Texas Tenors-I personally never saw what people say in them. They weren’t bad singers but they didn’t deserve to win.
#3 Recycled Percussion-What a shocker! (Just Kidding.) Who in the world didn’t see Barbara Padilla vs. Kevin Skinner as the final two? I actually knew this was how it was going to end after their first auditions. It just shows you what obsessive promotion and positive editing will do for an act. It’s too bad that Recycled Percussion couldn’t have become the first non-singing act to ever win the competition (Terry Fator doesn’t count since most of his act contained singing).
#2 Barbara Padilla-The final two acts ended up being singers and yet the much, much, much, much better singer ended up losing to the media hype act. I always thought Barbara Padilla’s singing was boring but at least she was a good singer (unlike the winner of the season). I guess it just shows you that talent rarely wins you America’s Got Talent but a good story always does.
#1 Kevin Skinner-If it wasn’t bad enough that the final two were singers, America had to pick the one that couldn’t sing that well. Kevin Skinner was all story without the talent to back it up. I will stand by my claim that if Kevin Skinner wasn’t “the chicken catcher” there was no way in the world that he would have won. I don’t think he would have even made the semi-finals. I am a county fan and I will go on record that I will never ever buy one of his albums and I will try to avoid ever listening to one of his songs. He simply did not deserve to win America’s Got Talent and he only won thanks to very positive editing by NBC.
With three official singers and one act that heavily relied on singing winning the four seasons of America’s Got Talent, it turns out that America’s Got Talent has yet to actually pick a winner that didn’t rely on singing. Next season I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want an act that involves no singing whatsoever to win next season. It will never happen but America’s Got Talent might be able to finally regain its title of America’s Got Talent. From now on until it proves otherwise I am now officially renaming America’s Got Talent as either America’s Newest Favorite Singer or American Idol 2 (I haven’t decided which one sounds better).

I thought it was going to be some boring old place. If you are interesting see my personal site Southern Brooke
