America’s Got Talent Quarterfinals Audition #8 (August 26th, 2009)

americasgottalent Americas Got Talent Quarterfinals Audition #8 (August 26th, 2009)

The final five acts were moved through to the semifinals tonight. Like most reveal shows the episode was quite boring and also predictable. As a matter of fact I predicted all but one of the acts that moved onto the next round. I am personally not that happy with the choices. Once again too many singers were put through and only two of the acts that I really wanted to move on actually were moved on. After the break find out which acts moved on tonight, what the top 20 acts are, and my thoughts on the high amount of singers and dancers moved onto the semi-finals.

The final five acts moved onto the top twenty include:

Drew Stevyns-The one act moving on that I didn’t predict.

The EriAm Sisters

Recycled Percussion

Barbara Padilla

Erik and Rickie-Judges Choice

The acts sent home:

African High Flyers

Pam Martin’s Top Dogs

Coney Island Chris

Matthew and Anthony

Ishaara

The Lollipop Girls

Mia Boostrom

With the top twenty now complete, I have to say that once again I am disappointed by the list of acts in the semi-finals. Like every other season of America’s Got Talent, there are way too many singing acts in the semi-finals. 35% of the acts are singers this year. The sad thing is that is probably a lower percentage than previous seasons. While singing is a popular talent, I don’t think over a third of the acts in the semi-finals should be singers. Dancers also have a pretty high share with 25% of the final acts. So you are telling me that 60% of the most talented people in America share one of two talents. I personally find that hard to believe.

I don’t know what it is but America’s Got Talent truly has a hard time finding unique talents. Either America is actually not that talented, the judges don’t really care for unique acts, the judges don’t give unique acts enough chances to show that their act has lasting power, or the show is just unlucky and has missed almost all the unique talents in America. I highly doubt it is the last option.

The top twenty acts of season four of America’s Got Talent that are moving onto the semi-finals include:

Singers (7/20):

Barbara Padilla

Kevin Skinner

Lawrence Beamen

The EriAm Sisters

The Texas Tenors

The Voices of Glory

Drew Stevyns

Dancers (6/20):

Paradizo Dance (Husband and Wife Team)

Arcadian Broad (Dancer and Piano Player)

FootworKingz (Dance Group)

Erik and Rickie (Young Ballroom Dancers)

Instrumental (2/20):

Variety (5/20):

Acrodunk (Basketball Act)

Grandma Lee (Comic)

Drew Thomas Magic (Magician)

Mario and Jenny (Fire/Danger Act)

Tony Hoard & Rockn’ Rory The Ultimate Air Dog (Dog Act)

My personal favorite and hopeful winner is Acrodunk.
